My uncle has 3 HF tool boxes and HATES thst you have to reach over and flip that latch, EVERY TIME YOU OPEN A DRAWER. I bought a set if MasterForce cabinets (top/bottom) when they were migrating over to the 24" deep units from the 18". Got them on clearance and 11% off too. I honestly love them. Was able to find a matching side cabinet on CL and I'm set. My uncle ended up buying one too. Both have been very satisfied with MasterForce tool storage.

If you would have walked just left of those stacked cabinets you showed after the blue one, you would have found my "Battle Box." I didn't buy the cart it sits on, but, but for the money, it's a good portable unit. The lock is junk, but easily replaced, as it freezes up after almost a year.

The blue Masterforce with the chrome trim is nice looking. I like the drawer layout. I don't like the US General Series 3. The black trim looks blah compared to the chrome. I think the Masterforce is a better deal.

I have always loved this tool box. I have also always thought this was a better deal than the US General tool boxes. I never liked the drawer latch on the US General, absolutely love it on the Masterforce. All to hoopla going on about the series 3 coming out I had to do this video lol

Menards has some good decent stuff. I like their toolboxes, I feel they have good decent quality to them. I'd say they're comparable to Harbor freight but I feel masterforce has a quality advantage over the US general. Their masterforce hand tools are pretty decent as well and are a little bit better than harbor freight in my experience. Apex I think makes their hand tool lineup and chervon makes their electric tools.

Try getting parts from Menards. No color choice. And let’s not talk about warranty. 8-12 weeks to get any part and that’s after you return to the store with the toolbox AND Menards has to agree it’s a warranty part. Good luck.

Your preferred color doesn’t change the fact that the US General is only 22 inches deep. That’s a no go for me.

3 color choices, black, blue and gun metal grey. Warranty, bahahaha, Menards warranty is lifetime. Maybe it would be hard to get parts, who knows I haven't tried it. But having a lifetime warranty means at least they think pretty highly of their product. HF gives a 90 warranty on their US General boxes, what they think of theirs lol.

I’ve warrantied slides on my smaller box Masterforce, two week turn around. Also, they’re montezuma boxes. Believe they are manufactured in Canada.

Well the master force does have a lifetime warranty though. The U.S. general is only 90 days. I guess a slow/aggravating warranty is better than no warranty.

Eh, not a fan of all the deep drawers. Waste of space unless you're into storing large tools or tools with cases. I like that its a little bigger and a more standard size than the series 3. The lift latch is a piece of shit (had them on a Husky tool box) and will get ruined in short order. The extra large wide drawer is attractive though. Still, probably a better value. I'd laugh my ass of knowing if Master Force and US General were made at the same factory in china. It wouldn't surprise me. But- Perfect for the home builder/hobbyist, no doubt.

I don't like the deep drawers myself, why I have a hard time deciding on what tool box I like the best. Those deep drawers are just a catch all. I really don't like a deep drawer in the middle, I like that the middle bank bottom drawers are the size they are on this one. Just deep drawers on each end, I can handle that. I liked the lift latches on my old Craftsman tool box, I miss them. The Masterforce are similar why I like it better.

No Menard’s in my area of the Country. There are three HFs 10 minutes, 25 minutes, and just under an hour away. Yeah, I might could order one, then it gets shipped and receives more damage above what it obtained on its travel from China, then might have to ship it back, and wait for a replacement or any needed parts. If I got the US General version, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. All the box will do is hold my tools.

I'm sorry that you don't have a Menards in your area. It must really suck to be stuck with just a HF to get a good tool box. I'm just trying to make a comparison that there are other options out there more than just Harbor Freight. There's big selling points on the Masterforce, deeper, better drawer layout, 3 wide drawers (which I like better) and also the drawer latches. Since I have a choice between the two the Masterforce is a way better deal and has better options, just sayin.

@@chefshadetree3972 Naw, it doesn’t suck being “stuck with a Harbor Freight”. I enquired of the councilman for the Ward of the town I live in about bringing some more businesses to town, one of them being a Menards, but the chances of that happening is like expecting water not to be wet. I also have the options of Lowe’s, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, NAPA, and etc. for buying a box from. My 18 year old 10-drawer Craftsman top box and cabinet set up, my three year old 5-drawer US General tool cart, and a 5 year old Kobalt three-drawer tool box I keep locked in my Silverado are holding up just fine. I do DIY and side automotive repair work so I don’t buy tools to just buy tools, but get what I need when I need it or foresee the need of it. All my tool storage is just for holding my tools. My concern is more for my service or repair work being done correctly.

The Husky ones at HD have the power strip also I don't know why the HF doesn't. That's a big deal breaker. Besides I felt them both and the Husky at HD feels like it's made better than HFs. I don't have anywhere Menards in my part of the country otherwise I definitely consider it. I do really like to lift lock drawers

Home Depot has even better quality ones online they're called heavy duty and then they also have professional duty I've never seen them in the stores

@@darrenporsch I haven't seen the new Husky HD yet. I don't have a Home Depot close to me so I'd have to drive an hour to one just to look. I see them on line but touching them and actually being able to pull on the drawers would be a totally different story. Plus I think the prices are higher for the better (HD) boxes.

It definitely a little more money but if you look at the specs they use thicker Gage steel and I have a 5-year warranty as opposed to three for the regular
