72 Olds Cutlass Restored Front End ... In Detail

Olds Guy's Garage. EP10. In this episode we will be going through the process of rebuilding the front end of the 72 Olds Cutlass. In prior videos we took apart the front end, rebuilt bushings, painted parts, clean up parts, and kept smaller bolts and nuts organized. In this episode we put all the prior parts that have been refreshed back onto the car and combine them with new parts such as bushings and steering components from Moog, Gabriel shocks, finish installing new disc brake upgrade kit from Summit, and a beefier front sway bar just to name a few!

Hi great video! I just got my 71 last week and it needs whole front suspension redone like yours. Mine already has front discs. Do you have a link to all the parts you got like spindles control arms etcetera? It would help alot i want to redo it during winter.

That is a great idea and I will get one compiled and added to description. I used mostly moog on the front end. Brake parts were from summit.

Behind the seat of a 72 olds cutlass s, what part is that called? (has steel container, with 4 gas lines out the bottom, that’s hooks into the gas tank with the other gas lines connected)

Its a charcoal canister to capture vapors from the tank and fuel system. Thanks for watching!

I just got done doing the whole front end as well but now the passenger side has a squeak. Added grease but still have the squeak any input would be helpful thank you

perhaps have a buddy push down on the car as you are underneath to try to pinpoint area where noise is coming from. Perhaps its an upper or lower arm bolt? good luck!

Can I ask where did you get spring compresser ?

Great question! I should have included that! I bought it off of amazon. Performance Tool W89311 Coil Spring Compressor. I bought a power built compressor and it didnt fit up through the lower A-arm. I did cutoff about 1.5" from end of bolt with cutoff wheel so the bolt wouldn't hit the top of the shock tower when spring was compressed.
