The Boeing 727 was my FAVORITE. How I MISS that tail, and the three engines clustered in back. NOTHING will EVER replace it!

Great plane. By 1997 I was a FedEx Newark mechanic and worked PEX, Continental, American & FedEx 727s. And loved it!

I remember in 97 flying a Delta 727 into Newark. Because of delays, there were only a handful of people on the flight and we were all upgraded to first class. Cockpit door was left open and I got to watch the flight engineer work. Kiwi was a stalwart at the airport at this time.

I always love aircraft with clean wings- they look so aerodynamic and sleek. I grew up in NYC and LaGuardia Airport had 727s landing all day everyday.... It was my favorite jet back in the late 70s. Farewell to a great workhorse!

My first 727 flight was onboard a UAL 727-100 in "Friend-Ship" livery when I was 6 years old. Thought it was the coolest looking aircraft with the T-tail, triple slotted flaps, leading edge slats, and those 3 Pratt & Whitney JT8-D's. Thanks for all the great videos my friend, Semper Fidelis!

I used to watch these beauties take off and land from the crane ladders across the TPK, at Mearsk shipping line, when I worked there in the late 70's I even got to see a Concord that was rerouted there from JFK land, and then take off. They had to back it up to the very edge of the runway parallel to the TPK, and she had a full throttle run before reaching V take off speed to lift off. The local media reported on the unusual event, and speculated wheather there would be enough runway for her to be able to lift off. That was a once in a lifetime event!

Great video of a beautiful aircraft. Such awesome comments on the vid too. Yes, the Delta livery is quite cool looking as well is the TWA 727. But not once is the Eastern Air Lines 727 in the vid. Guess they didn't fly in/out of Newark. Too bad though. That was another great example of a superb aircraft for it's time. Rode on the 727 many times as a little tyke, probably out of LaGurardia. Back in those days we always got free playing cards and plastic wings! YAY!!! (For you old school Delta fans, I especially loved that livery on the L1011)

I Dispatched for Sky Trek we had 5, three 727-200 Adv and two 727-200’s. When push came to shove I always favored the non-adv birds. They were N259US and N267US both former North West birds and 259 blew stinger lights every 20-25 hours, had to have both to dispatch. Of course they came with the big -7 engines, climbing is something they did poorly. The others had -15 engines as I recall, they were made in 1977-79 the other 2 were just 1 month younger than I, the airworthiness certificate dated January 1969. I love 72’s I finished out my career dispatching executive mailing tubes with a QS tail. Every one of those jets out computer power the 72 but only the Citation X can pass a 72.

When you see how some "Airlines" treated their fine 727 aircraft like graffiti walls, you can maybe understand why they are no longer around if that sort of thinking was also carried over into their operational decision making.

Anyone know the typical range of a 727? Are many still in operation? I rarely see them here in Europe :(
@jetpowered19 жыл бұрын
Sure. It depends on the series -100, -200, -200 with advanced engines and if they have aux tanks, etc. but the range goes from about 1,500Nm to as much as 3,000+Nm. I've flown all the 727 series, and there can be quite a difference.
@jonteske42679 жыл бұрын
According to a WIKI 1800-2600 nm depending on variant when fully loaded. In 2013 188 out of 1832 built were still in service. Most are in cargo service or third world country airlines. I was last on one in 2002, on an American Airlines flight still in TWA colors. It was a 100 variant and I was VERY surprised to see it still in service.

Too bad these trijets are to costly to operate, even for cargo operators. Aviation in the 21st century is changing too rapidly, we have seen lots of planes going and appearing in these last 15 years. Cheers for the 727

Too bad All the 727s are no longer flying in and out of any airports anymore althought 727s was one of the loudest aircraft as I don't know what like they were about I'll say just as loud as some of the military jets
