As an airport rescue and firefighting services member I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart; it may be sound strange to you but nobody is really interested ( and i mean all the involved parts) in learning or training in depth about the systems of an aircraft; in my job the only thing we do care about is extinguishing the fire which I believe is fundamentally wrong, so i cannot thank you enough for the extra valuable information you are providing. A Greek firefighter.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. Most of the airport firefighters that I have met have all had some interest in aircraft, but as you say only a superficial understanding of the underlying systems and potential hazards. I am pleased that my videos can help in that area. Thank you also for your service in keeping crew, passengers and all airport staff safe.

Thanks for the video! Just a couple of points that I remember: The Wing/body overheat was also a concern for a leak at the LE flaps because of the thermal heating of the front spar. Your pic of the LE flap fire wire puzzled me a little as I remember this corkscrewed around the duct (I could be thinking of a different aircraft though). Also the toilet bin flap which was sprung loaded so tight it felt like a rottweiler chewing your knuckles was on the classics a standard check for the engineers as it formed part of the bin seal for fire protection.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comments. Yes the waste bin lid was like Arkwrights cash register in Open All Hours!!

Maybe you've heard this one. I've been told that the smoke detectors sometimes give false alarms in places like south america after the ground crew had applied insect sprays to the cargo hold. The guy who told me said these false alarms would always trip before takeoff.
@ChrisBrady737 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I have had that happen to me in Turkey where they did the same thing. It is a known phenomenon, I probably should have mentioned it in the video.

@@ChrisBrady737 maybe there is a KZbin option to add a text during the video. What you also can do, there is an option to pin the comment so it will always show first below your video, so guys who are interested in reading comments will see it first.

hello Chris,I have a question. How does the wheel fire detector using battery bus to work? Thank you so much.
@ChrisBrady7372 жыл бұрын

@marcosainoza27883 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I have a question please, the DETECTOR FAULT light in the cargo panel says that one or more detectors in the loop(s) has failed, so how do you know you still have detection operative or inoperative in each hold? you select loop a or b in order to know which one has failed? and another question if so, and you are able to know that you have no loops operative at all you must land asap or you could continue normal operation? i hope you understand the question, english is not my mothertongue. thanks
@ChrisBrady7373 жыл бұрын
Yes select A or B. The QRH does not direct you to land ASAP with a detector fault, so it is the Captains or companies decision based upon the circumstances.

I have no experience with the 737, just studying the FCOM and supplementing with these fine videos. At 25:18 I am confused. Is it different for the Max? The FCOM I've got says the second Low-Rate Discharge bottle fires 15 minutes after the High-Rate bottle.
@ChrisBrady7372 жыл бұрын
For aircraft with the Dual Cargo Fire Extinguisher bottles option on the MAX the second fires 15 minutes after the first; on NG the second fires 60 minutes after the first and on the BBJ the third fires 60 minutes after the first two.
