Thank you very much Emanuel for your good work on the FSS Boeing 727 tutorial series.I managed to get this far in the same flight. But goodness me, there is a lot to remember and to constantly check. Extremely satisfying and fun when all the learning comes together, even for desktop pilots. I had to go and refresh my knowledge about VOR flying before undertaking this flight. I take my hat off to those pilots who flew this aircraft in an era when there was no fancy tablets and GPS.

Before Captain Sim became crap, their 727 was excellent. FE had to manage fuel very carefully, turning on and off pumps as required. Is this not done on this SIM version? Great video. Loved flying the 3 Holer.

I want to see an Aerosucre takeoff profile. “Rotate when the end of the runway disappears below the windscreen.” Or an Astral flight into Mogadishu.

Hi Emanuel First: Thanks a LOT that you did the "whole manual way" - I really wanted to do all the switcheroo myself 🙂 Now, I do have a little issue. When I use the crew manager (shortcut) and let the plane do most of the preparation, I am able to track a GPS (I use GTNxI) well. BUT - when I do it the manual way how you show I never manage to track a GPS course. I have the NAV/GPS to GPS, the AP is engaged and the AP mode is NAV/LOC. Any idea what I am missing? Also - the two master switch on the back are ON. Thanks for your great tutorial & effort again Emanuel! best Michel

I found the issue - had to update the GTNxI... now it works 🙂

I think with more modern jets, the workload has decreased immensely. Which is not to say that pilots on these newer aircraft need inferior training compared to what it took to fly a 727 - with all the knowledge gained in the meantime, how to deal with whatever non-normal situation, it's probably more than befire. But a lot of the automatable work is automated nowadays. Or just achieving some things is easier now. You want to change the speed that your autopilot holds? Just change the setting, no need to go to a different mode, change the rate of climb, switch back to the previous mode...
