Hot damn. Imagine a bunch of drones like this deployed in a war zone. Scaled down so its not so overkill. There's no way to hide from that. :P Pretty epic.
@skatterpro8 жыл бұрын
It's probably way too hard to control to be a useful tool. The plane would be smashed to bits, even if it theoretically might split a person in half, and the damage it would deal in that case would be minimal for the costs. Rockets or bombs would be many times more efficient, and in the long run cheaper. As a weapons platform, there's hardly any need for that kind of speed, you're pretty much fucked with a current state of the art drone too.
@21area218 жыл бұрын
GurktheBrutal I was talking about like bullets with wings basically. They could be oretty damn cheap. And they could autonomously track great signatures that look like people out something. If you put some like swarm awareness of whatever, they could probably communicate and coordinate which targets to hit. This way, you could drop them in a battleground like traditional bombs, without damaging the springing area.

I am reminded of my days of slot car racing 50 years ago and what became of that hobby. There was a continuous desire to go ever faster. Eventually they reached speeds where the human senses could no longer, in a sense, keep up and the extra speed became a detraction. I'm not sure if that is the case here or not. I'm watching a video and am not there to experience it live. But that's kind of what it reminds me of: slot car racing, and its demise.

@namibjDerEchte7 жыл бұрын
Shadow Prince I think the only real difficulty would be 1) cooling (shockwave at grou d level is really hot) and 2) it's afaik illegal to supersonic over most land. Technically it would be easy, have a like propane or ethane (maybe methane) tank around a ramjet, and make it provide cooling via copper pipes containing the fuel flow into the engine that go around the front part of the plane. Start with a crazy strong catapult, engeneer for very high G-Forces. Voilla, you just got yourself a missile. stick a selfmade, non-hight-or-speed restricted gps on it, and keep clear of the kreml. otherwise the kreml might do bad things to you.

Don't think you could 'mount' a gopro - it would just get ripped off at 462mph, or create a huge amount of drag and effect the performance. You'd have to build it in from the get go under a transparent part of the body made of perspex.
@afrog26668 жыл бұрын
with that nose you`d have to make a canopy in front of the air intake for the turbine (on top is real bad aerodynamically) which is a no no, a solution under the wing would be possible, but any modification to this airfoil will impact the performance from the looks of it.. :/

holy shit dude, I bow down to your piloting skills, I could only dream of being half as good behind the stick. I thought my stunt wing was a hard to fly at 50mph but 462.... that's another story

mid air collisions are very rare, and you cant fly in a 5 mile radius of an airport where planes are the most concentrated.

RCKnut is not really that fast. he OBVIOUSLY sped up the camera. this is obvious from how the small corrections look like he's shaking the camera. I'm disturbed no one else saw this. this man is a lier, cheat, a fake, and everyone should report this as spam. it's probable some 12 year old kids all thinking Americans are idiots.

Doesnt this basically qualify as a drone? In which case, don't military aircraft count too, since they are able to be remotely flown? What is the cut-off for "RC" and any other remote controlled aircraft?
@HalcyonVoid8 жыл бұрын
Chris 1234 There are several things that are classed as drones but still require LOS to fly. And if camera feed is one of them, if I strap a camera on an RC plane does it become a drone? The definitions seem very vague. Too vague really.
