I live in Anchorage and I take my kids there all the time. They love it. That small hill is the best spot for ANC arrivals and departures. More so north bound departures especially 747s that take more runway length and fly really low after take off.

Lou, thank you so much for this wonderful video today I really really enjoyed it!! It makes me miss living in Portland 25 years ago and being at that little parking place out by the runway out on the Colombia river watching the planes come in. I don't know if you can still sit there. That's where I put two and two together and my Father and I mailed important letters back and forth using UPS ground, at that time very inexpensive, because it got there from Portland to Rockford IL next day without having to pay for next day air or wait more than a week regular mail. I guess UPS got so busy or figured it out that people were using UPS Ground to get next day service, Hub to Hub!

Stunning footage Lou. I live approx 9 miles due north of Birmingham Uk (BHX) runway and normally see a constant stream of ATR42/72 Dash -8 A320 B737 at about 3,500ft as they pass overhead, (if landing from the north, otherwise I see nothing lol) with the occasional larger birds but its been awful quiet this last year! - I was watering the plants just at dusk the other night and was extremely surprised to see a Galaxy C5 lumbering in, never seen one of those at BHX before. I can truly sympathise with the seat discomfort as an occasional rider myself 🤪 - great stuff Lou, stay safe

You'd think most bike rental places would install more comfortable 'day rider' seats for casual riders!! This does remind me of my fascination with trains (train spotting) when my mom would take me down to a main station hub in New Jersey and my friends and I would watch the various cool locomotives come through. Great fun!! I'd be curious to find out what goes through your mind during landings.........or if it's old hat like parking a car for the rest of us. Also......if you've had any terror type scenarios from storms or cross winds or even mountains!!?? Jim C.
