He dld more than just own a Top Fuel Team (s) He drove these Nitromethane burning monsters for many years back in the day, Definitely a Living Legend in the world of NHRA Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car Racing. Kalitta Air is how he Funds his Passion for Drag Racing, along with sponsors. Sadly i was at the Englishtown event where his son Scott lost his life in a Funny Car Accident, was a sad day for Kalitta Motorsports. I give Connie so much credit for Still being out there at Every Event sitting in his golf cart at the Starting Line waiting for one of his Funny Cars or Dragsters to run down the 1000 ft Dragstrip, He's still out there after all these years.

Shortly before touchdown the plane flares by pitching the nose up. This is done to decrease the downwards vertical speed so the plane touches down softly. If the pilot does not flare at all you would touch down pretty hard.
