Tank looks good! Just picked up a 75 gallon tank myself. Working some OT to get filters and get tank going. Also looking to also get Ranchu myself and was curious of who you ordered from and if it was descent experience?

Great question! Usually it takes a few weeks to cycle a tank. I luckily have access to cycled bio-media from my other tanks that I used to “seed” this one so the cycle time was much shorter!

That kind of substrate for plants usually raises acidity ..... wouldn't recommend keeping that for goldfish it's not as good for them Nice setup tho

The planted substrate I used in the bottom layer is actually inert, they claim it takes in nutrients from the water column which then can be taken up by the plants. I’ve been monitoring the ph and it has remained stable around 7.0ph!

I have a very similar substrate for my goldfish and I'm fortunate enough to say my ph has also remained stable around 7.0ph!! I keep plants in my tank as well, so maybe the issues you're experiencing are due to having a tank with less/no plants?
