I love your wood shed and I love that your wife helps you. You are truly blessed with your wonderful family. I'm 65 and not able to get out and do any more. I grew up with a forest as my playground. A hunter, camper and vacations with family was spent in the NC mountains, only a few times to beach, you can't beat camping in the mountains. Not able to do that anymore, you provide me with such wonderful videos outdoors that really make me feel good. Thanks so much for sharing Mike!

Like the use of the Simpson tie-down's on the 4x4 posts to the main header. Don't forget the proper drip edge on the roof around all four sides (it's cheap), this will ensure a water-tight finish. Nice works kids.

That’s going to be a nice woodshed. Nice to be able to cut your own lumber. When we built our new house, I thinned out a bunch of 70’ tall pines and had a guy with a portable woodmiser cut them into lumber for me, and my father in law had an old corn crib I dried it in. Used it for my basement framing and trim. Also built a huge entertainment center with built in tv out of it.

Howdy Morgans, Mike and Melissa enjoy the banter between the two of you. Correct answer Mike she did a great job nailing the fascia boards especially since she is becoming expert with the nail gun and you have to sleep sometime....wouldn't want to see a video on Melissa's channel with Mike nailed to the headboard through his PJ sleeves.... Have A Good Night's Sleep Mike! ;~)

Man, I love your saw and the woodshed your building. I would put a small rock apron all the way around it to keep grass and weeds from touching the siding. If I remember correctly, red oak is so porous if you were to cut a 3/4" X 3/4 piece of it 6" long, you could blow on the end grain and hear air passing through it, so it's good you are sealing and staining it, nice job Mike , Melissa, and family👍🙋♂️

We ran a Peterson Sawmill for many years commercially. One suggestion is to build a wooden long basin mounted on skids to catch your sawdust. End of day just pick up the basin and dump the sawdust wherever you see fit. Saves time cleaning up and you get to use your tractor for the heavy lifting.

Greetings from No Vt - Woodshed is lookin' good. Hunter was priceless in surprising you with the Spicy Poppers. The soffit boards will create a cavity for birds or squirrels to nest and make a mess. Even if you close off between the rafters over your carry beam it still is an inviting void for wasps, bees and other flying insects.

You can do raised beds...no problem! I built all of mine too, but screwing them together is better than nailing...4x8 ft. is my standard size, with 2x4 posts on each end for support, and across the middle to prevent bulging, 22" high, with 2x4 frames on top so you can sit on and/if mount winter covers. I grow all of my vegetables, lettuces and fruit like strawberries, blueberries in those bins. Been doing this for 20 years....so nice not having to bend over, and tellises to grow vining plants like beans and cukes. Try it, you'll love it.

Alright Hunter - change up again, Jalapeno Poppers. Keeping your dad on his toes! The shed is going to look just great. So, Have A Day!
@jamesdearinger36744 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you should consider buying another step ladder and cutting a 12-foot walk board. Might be safer than a walking transition from the tailgate to the ladder. Great work on the shed so far. Looks sturdy as all get out.

Hello from Quebec. I watch every single video you publish and really enjoy it all. Mike, the shed looks awesome. I know you are a detail-man and you mentioned that you are going to stain the wood. Aren't you concerned that it may increase work in the long term if it starts pealing and you have to redo in the future. I am getting ready lo install board and batten on a camp and after seeing pictures posted on the internet from people who have just let it age naturally, I find it to look just awesome.

Mike, maybe you've addressed this before but wondering what you had planned for the slabs? I always got a 1X4 from the outside rind board (boards that haven't been edged that still has bark on one or both sides) and had a thin slab. Those thick slabs would make some nice siding. Grandpa used to build hog pens/shelters out of slabs. Just figured you had something planned for making the slabs so thick.

Ha! Hi! From joe & Judy Sandstone mn. Check your nailing pattern on your face if you don’t put at least 3 per joist your going to get movement on that green wood . On your stain you might want to check on drainage oil it really is pretty and golden and preserves the wood it really socks in and you will really have to speed it up or the boss is really going to be mad ha! See ya!

Great vid Mike,I like how Melissa and you work together reminds me of Sandy and I working together, it was so good to see Hunter Quality time with the family . I have been around 3 wood mizer's and helped cutting ,also a timber harvester band mill with a deutz diesel wow did that cut fast. I also had a friend that logged with a allis chalmersD19 with a power trailer with a hood loader on it the tractor run and drove the trailer with the pto. they had a circular saw lane mill powered by a V8 chevy and a old lag bed plainer powered by a 6cyl ford engine, I use to watch them cut and I purchased lumber off them,I always loved being around saws cutting the circular was more dangerous ,he had some big maple he was cutting he asked the guy if the was boundry trees the guy said no,he opened up the v8 and started cutting the log, the log was full of steel, he hit some of it and the sets came out of the blade, it was like a shot gun with buckshot shooting out through the mill shed thus holes all through the shed , lucky he did not get hurt .
@rkeround2itindustries8924 жыл бұрын
The roof of the shed would be sturdier if you offset the purloin ends by at least one rafter. This helps distribute the weight. It does look good thought.
