Had to correct this misinformation. If you're referring to Pre-RASP, it has been around for about as long as RASP has, which itself replaced RIP around 2009-2010. All selections across the military have prep courses and basically always have. Whether voluntary or involuntary. Most nowadays are involuntary because there's no reason to waste time, money, and resources putting someone through the real thing if they can't even reach the standards of the prep program. It's literally the complete opposite of the concept of "dropping standards". It directly upholds them.
