Here in India, generally if a single parent is left alone...... He or she either ends up being a beggar on the road, Or dies of the actions out of depression. That's why I always ask my parents, to inculcate their own hobbies. We have a familial culture in India, that's good, but with changing lifestyles and aspirations, one has to go out for job Or other things. It's no more possible to live always with the parents. It's not like i would leave my parents alone when they are going to be old, but still I want them to never feel alone. That's why they must find some activities which they like doing the most. Empty mind is always depressed. So one must inculcate some interests or hobbies to fill the voids of time. It's really important these days. We have a notion that we must live for others. Parents should live for children and then children should live for parents. That's not completely rational. We must take care of our loved ones but we also take care of ourselves. We should have the responsibility of our own selves. You don't own your children, nobody does. So if your children leave you when they are independent then it's not a crime. Parents are the medium for the children to come to this world and children themselves will explore the world. Let them do that, don't cut their wings in the names of responsibilities, culture etc. We must love our children, but we don't need to understand them. It's okay if we can't understand their decisions, but we must have faith that they will do alright. That's why one must love oneself and should also give time to self. That's the only we one can live happily ever after. Don't give your key of happiness to someone else. Be the master of your own life.

Yes, very true. In most parts of Asia that is true. Mostly due to economics of not being financially independent. All of the parents savings are sunk into dowries with the hope that children will look after them. There are also no social services. We need to form social services that make the parents feel useful and needed and give them some compensation even when retired. This will free up everyone. It is not a hobby but a lifestyle change.

Vandey Mataram wonderfully written. People keep reading countless stupid comments. The fact you made a point and took time to write this itself showing and giving hope that youth these days are thinking and acknowledging the dark side of few parents who seem to think they love their kids and do everything or nothing out of love but that’s completely not the entire side of the emotion. Thankyou!

What a lovely woman! I especially liked the serenity of her tearoom! I dislike clutter and although her kitchen is a high-energy and very creative space, I would not be able to cope with it. I did learn something that my mind has been play with for some time: that we need 'static' spaces, in our homes and in our gardens.

Elise Kuby if you are a happy and healthy woman like I am I don’t mind clutters every where what it is important is the healthy mind and my body , it is does matters , and to stay healthy and happy I turn into vegetarian and raw vegan life styles that even I am 60 years old woman I am healthy and happy , the rest doesn’t take into account in my daily life , thank you
@elisekuby35765 жыл бұрын
@@TheGohbomba The terms 'healthy and happy' encompass many things in daily life. The presence of clutter makes me uncomfortable and it would cause me anxiety, which would then impact the happy and healthy parts of my unique personality and character. She, being an artist, may enjoy the various objects that stimulate her and make her happy. The happiest room in her house would also be the happiest room in my house - the tea room, free of physical and or/mental stimuli! A serene space - or a static space, as she herself described it.

Looks like she has cultivated her life into one worth living. How nice to share this life with others as well. But for many, the opportunity to travel and/or collect special things, etc. may be out of reach and therefore unrealistic. As for me, I prefer less clutter around my living space, or I become overwhelmed and disoriented. I am not an artist, but I too enjoy cooking as a way to separate myself from the standard American diet and prepare meals with and for others. I am happiest being outside and slowly enjoying the beauty and food of every season. Thank you for posting this interesting video.
