Boniface Mwangi is a photojournalist activist who documented the post-election violence in Kenya in 2007, and has been arrested many times for denouncing political injustices. He is a two time recipient of the CNN Photojournalist of the Year Award. He has established PAWA254 in Nairobi which is an Art Rising collective where visual arts is used to power social justice. It is an Arts and Artivism hub based in Nairobi. PAWA254 is a workspace that offers workshops, trainings, forums and events for all artists who are creating for social impact. PAWA254 empowers young professionals and disadvantaged youth to effect social change through new innovative projects.

Who was the number one freedom fighter? According to the books we read, Johnstone Kamau Wa Ngengi. Did he hold a gun,was in the forest,made the case for Kenyans while in the UK (possibly but debatable)? What about the valiant men and women in the forest, general Mwariama,the Dedan Kimathi's? History forgot them. It's true cowords write history but Boni's courage won't be forgotten. It will endure in perpetuity.
