AS - That would give Maxey a combo guard who can also score 20 - 25 ppg along with Maxey. Along with Embiid , & some of our own FA'S , we just surround them with perimeter defenders. To make up for Maxey + Simon's defensive short comings. Those 3 players along give us more than 70 ppg. Most of the defenders we need to surround them we just need to resign. Roco , Melton , Batum , Oubre. You stagger AS & Maxey most the time , but that would arguably give us the 2nd best backcourt in the NBA behind Luka + kyrie. The last thing I'd like to see them do is trade for Mo wagner , so we have a center who can score when Embiid is out. If you cannot trade for Wagner , I'd like to see them draft Edey. Edey would provide us with a center we've never had behind Embiid , a center who can score & defend + blk shots , rebound.

Say it again.. Say it Again LOL.. Good Riddance to Tobias Harris he was the reason along with Rivers we have not won anything the last 5 years, and count Simmons and Fultz in there also.. Now we start from scratch Morey.. Please build the team in such a way as to be competitive for the next 5 years and beyond.. We have two Super Stars in Embid and Maxey we just need a little help with that third and fourth consistent scorer, that we never had with Simmons and Harris, even though the sixers paid them like they were, they never were and then they hired Rivers, and that was the end.. Embid and Maxey can score 60-70 points each game, so the sixers just need some help in the starting lineup and some scoring off the bench..

The offers overall were pretty fair, however Portland already has 4 picks in this draft, fairly considered the weakest in at least a decade. I cannot imagine any scenario where they would be interested in this year's 16th pick unless they sent back the 14th etc. They also will have 13 guaranteed contracts after picking up team options on Camara and J Walker.

Blazers fan here. To be honest I think Grant would be a great 3rd/4Th option behind Embiid and Maxey. I doubt that any of the big nsmes go there in free agency with the questions about Joel and his health and long term future. To be honest a couple of protected far off first rounders likely does it . Brogden woud also be a good canidate to put next to Maxey or off the bench. Likely a frp. You do not want to put Simons next to Maxey. On offense they will be like Dame/CJ or Garland /Mitchell. But their defense combined will be bruuuutal. Even Embiid will have a hard time making up for it. Simons tries on defense but he is a 6'3" shooting guard who plays like he is 5'3" on defense.

Even though he absolutely should. Just like CJ, he's a true sixth man scorer and nothing more. Hide him as a flamethrower on your bench to ruin second string defenses. Ant is just a more athletic version of CJ with worse playmaking and somehow worse defense. They're both a insult to road cones defensively, but Ant manages to be even worse than CJ. He's a one trick pony, and that one trick is painfully inconsistent. He's a textbook sixthman. A JCrossover/Lou Williams kind of player. And I say this as a Blazers fan who has watched a average about 70 games a year.

Portland might seriously consider any one these trades, except for one thing: taking back the 16th pick this year in a weak draft. They already have 4 picks (7,14,34,40) this year, and can't use them all because of the number of contracts they already have. One of these deals might only work in the context of a multi-team deal.

Trail Blazers fan's perspective Portland doesn’t need five picks in the 2024 draft. Any deal that includes your 16th pick will likely include one of the Blazers 35th or 40th picks in round two. Anfernee Simons or Malcolm Brogdon are more likely to be traded during the draft than Jerami Grant who I think teams like the 76ers will peruse if they misssout on a bigger name probably after the draft.
@TheCriminalViolin
@TheCriminalViolin Ай бұрын
I agree with that perspective for sure as a Blazers fan myself, however I have zero trust in this team's front office and ownership to do the logical, smart, and best thing, which is to trade Ant & JG, and hopefully Rob too. I'm all for giving DA a proper chance to get comfortable again and potentially become the guy to lead this team into the future as Shae & Scoot develop, but Rob's game does not fit playing alongside him nor the bench AT ALL. So he needs to be sent out too. If by some miracle they do actually make these trades, then we can say for the first time we have truly begun the full rebuild of the team.

JG is a true 3 who has played most of his career as a make-believe 4, for some stupid reason. Another major reason the Blazers have to ship him out somewhere with the draft targets we have right now and the weird tweener syndrome we have with the likes of Bari and Toumani, and then Duop manning a Ryan Anderson kind of role as a stretch 4 who can't really play very well in any other position.

@TheCriminalViolin
@TheCriminalViolin Ай бұрын
JG is better than Tobias, just not by much haha. He's a markedly superior defensive player and has a better jumper overall, but that's about it. He's definitely similar to Tobias when it comes to consistency and having a positive net impact on the team's success. Remember - we got him for a full season as a "revamped" roster around Dame to contend, and he quite literally did nothing at all to improve the team's record, despite having a career year that year. And every time he's been on a bad team, same problem, whether starting or off the bench. Tobias however has a negative net impact on his team's success. Again, JG is therefore only SLIGHTLY better given his impact is null rather than somewhat in the red.

Also, wouldn't you have to send a player or two to match salary? As for Oscolm, he's a guy who has proven it isn't just words when he said he was happy and wanted to stick around to shift into the mentorship part of his career. So I'm happy to keep him around to be our teacher, locker room guy and leader for our young guys. And Ant? I've wanted him gone for at least two seasons now, and he HAS to go now. Can't wait any longer. Everyone gravely overvalues him endlessly, so I'd love to take advantage of that and get away with theft. I also dislike the trade for him.

No to all Portland players with the price tag indicated. If they offered Grant for (2) 2nd rounders and Paul Reed as part of a salary dump, then yes.

It’s not chat sports fault you guys can’t get more channel support than teams like Miami, it’s because Embiid is a choke and fans right now are suffering having to watch Boston of all teams get ready to hoist another chip. Now we are talking about trades and so far under this ownership all our trades and deals have sucked and not worked out.

I like Grant but isnt it better to pay Patrick Williams 20 mil a year in free agency. No picks needed and much younger. Sure Grant is a better player but I can see Williams improving to his level

I feel like the Sixers would rather roll the the player that is already proven. Patrick Williams is also restricted, so the Bulls can just match that offer

- no on jerami grant cause his contract is terrible and too much to get him. He's not even a 3rd option on a championship team. - Yes on Malcolm Brogdon. Depends on how much we need to trade for him. Only willing to trade 1 1st round pick and a second for him. - No on Anfernee Simons. Dude is a good stats bad team guy. He brings absolutely nothing to the table other than shooting. Super one dimensional. Cant defend. He's a cone when it comes to defense. He is one of the reasons why the Blazers have been bad. Expensive $25 million for a one dimensional guy that has a huge weakness that EVERY team has been able to exploit on him.

Agree on Brogdon and Simons, but I do believe in Grant. The contract is a little large, but not insane. I think he would be good enough to be a 3rd if he is shooting can translate.

Yes on that Simons trade. All day. I’m a season ticket holder at the Moda center and Simons is not loved around here. In fact he gets boo’d every game. I’ll say this. When his shot is going he is only decent. The thing is he is a very low IQ basketball player. He didn’t go to college so he missed out learning there. Sat behind a ball hog in Lillard. That didn’t help him either. So yes Simons for 2 firsts all day.

I’ve been to every home game he’s played in. He’s not loved at all. No defensive efforts get noticed when you pay thousands of dollars a year to watch a crappy player. He’s had 6 years to show who he is and he just is who he is

Grant is not worth 2 1st. Portland just traded for him for Milwaukee 2025 1st which is about the same value as the OKC 1st. Yes Portland ate the 20 mill but it was an expiring contract +they got a trade exception. I think that 16th is too much but it's probably closer value just depends on contracts going back tom Portland. That contract is a problem. I'd offer the 26th for Brogdon Simmons defense makes him a no

Grant isn't worth the #16, let alone a 2nd 1st. His contract is Tobias Harris like. Portland should be happy just to get rid of his remaining $120+ million dollar deal.
