I grew up a 20 minute drive from where Bateman is from, and I've never understood a word he's said 😅

No matter what accent someone has or how strong it is there's always gonna be people that are just harder to understand. I've always thought Bateman was one of those people, yeah his accent is bloody strong but mabye even his mates back home struggle to understand him.

Anyone got an up to date "obviously" count from Bateman? Ink ran out in my pen around 347.

lol I think this is the first time I literally had to stop and listen to…two very strong accents 🤣 Respect to John for sticking round his EX and baby girl who’s now a teenager …would’ve been hard but he seems like a great dad …no wonder he wanted to go home during covid that would’ve sucked

A privelege to have the likes of Bateman downunder. I'm a raiders fan and miss that British prick! but happy he is back in the NRL.

I love Super League and NRL. The snobbery by some NRL fans towards it is funny. What it lacks in quality is made up in history and fan support. I love seeing English players succeed in Oz. This interview was great.

Interesting to here what he said about wanting a full pre season at Raiders. Maybe having a full preseason this year at the Tigers will have him playing better. Obviously he came in after the season started at Tigers so didnt get that chance. Also hearing what he had to say about leaving the Raiders for England has me sympathising with him. Sounds like it was really just a decision he had to make for his family. Like they said if he didn't leave he could have not seen them for years.
