Ok... I bought this brush because I've 100% trusted your opinion for like 10 years and I FINALLY got this brush after seeing it at Ulta and I'm soooo happy I did. I always used the regular denman brush because that was always viewed as a reliable detangling brush but no, the denman D38 literally glides through my type 4 hair with such ease and I don't feel any pulling. I absolutly LOVE this brush. AfrikanHairGod you have a life long follower here lol!

I bought this brush when you first mentioned you bought it. 😂 I loveeee it so far! I’m ashamed to say it used to take me an hour and a half to detangle my mid back length type 4 hair with tons of breakage. I tried multiple types of “gentle” combs and they never had enough give. I tried other paddle brushes was my hair wrapping around the ball-tipped pins. With the den man brush my detangling is down to about 35 minutes with ease!! Almost a hour hour off of my usual detangling time! No breakage and no snagging. I love it so far! Also, it’s good for blow drying. Worth the price! Thanks AfrikanHairGod for sharing! 😊

Update: I've used the brush 4-5x now and I love it! Detangling sessions are much shorter and easier to get through. I also feel my hair is more thoroughly detangled than with other tools I've used in the past. My only complaint is the handle. It's small and when I have product on my hands it gets slippery. So I usually end up holding the brush by the widest part. If they were to add some silicone grips on the handle, this brush would be flawless! Thank you for the video and recommendation!

@deenacurls4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's so true I did a little experiment on my hair. I freshly trimmed all my hair and I had a section where I only used the tangle teezer to detangle. When I compared it to sections that I didn't use a tangle teezer it have lots of incomplete split end, midshaft splitends, and just split ends in general. It detangles great but it is damaging at the same time.
@1cakesz4 жыл бұрын
enidlarek oh my goodness I wonder if this is what’s happening to me? I trimmed my ends a while back and they are already knotted again. I could use my wide tooth comb but I don’t get the definition the tangle teezer gives or fully dentangled hair. What are you using now? Previous denman brushes didn’t work for me
@deenacurls4 жыл бұрын
@@1cakesz I have been finger detangling lately and using a paddle brush to detangle. I'm not a fan of the wide teeth comb it doesn't get all the tangles out and no definition. I think I'm going to invest in this brush because it doesn't have the ball ends. It probably is the brush doing that to your hair, I would always have sure bad ends using it and when I stop it got much better.

I finally used this brush. I initially used it horizontally on my hair (with a light leave-in & water) and noticed it felt as though it was pulling on my hair aggressively. I also noticed increased “shed” hair. However, as you will notice in this video his client has tight curls. Narada does not use the brush in a horizontal manner, but brushes HER hair vertically. I HAD to do the same and noticed better results. I had a GREAT deal of shed hair from this brush, (more than usual) which worried me. I will use it again for a few months and we will see what happens. UPDATE: I used this brush an additional 2-3x and continued to have the same experience. The brush seems to grab and tug on my hair causing more hair loss during the brushing process. I compared the use of my tried and true wide tooth comb which helped me to retain length and grow my hair down to my shoulders to this brush. When I used the brush, a great deal of my hair came out and I initially thought, “that is a lot of shed hair ( as I look at a handful of my hair which I just brushed out :(,” when I used the comb 0-3 strands came out (using it on a different section). Perhaps my technique contributed to my results. Yet, as I mentioned in this comment I used it similarly to the manner in which he used it in his video. I used both heavy and light products to work through my hair to see if I would get different results, but I did not. Regardless, I think that I will continue to use my comb. One of the pros I noticed was using this brush before a blow helped me to have an easy process of blowing out my hair. No tangles; everything was nicely detangled.
@AfrikanHairGod4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you didn't have such a great experience with the brush... Did you finger stretch the ends where you grab and smooth out the ends of your hair with your fingers? You will kinda see me briefly do this with each section as a means of prepping hair and making sure all the strands are "fanned out" and flowing down and out in the same direction...
@vswhaze16274 жыл бұрын
I followed your tutorial on defanging hair, which I found helpful. So yes I believe I did as you are suggesting (finger stretching ends). Yet, I will continue to try to perfect my technique. And it’s not all bad: I used the brush again today to detangle my hair before a blow out. I was VERY pleased with the results. I am extremely surprised that it took me 1/10 of the time I would normally take to do a blow out with less shedding. I also noticed that I had less hair shedding than yesterday which was encouraging because that tells me that brush was removing the shed hair. As I mentioned above, I plan to continue to test the performance of the brush so I can come to my own opinion. At this time, my reviews are mixed. I do appreciate your content and the care in which show your clients/subscribers . Thanks again!

i bought this brush thanks to this video.... I just finished my wash and that the first wash I've ever had where I didn't have a concerning amount of breakage, it also took me less time to detangle than usual. it was so gentle as well. I was a little scared of the price, but I hated seeing so much breakage, that i thought it was worth it. The lack of ball tips really makes a difference too, my last paddle brush was catching my poor hairs all the time to the point they'd knot around the brush. But this denman just glides right through. If there is a small knot of like 2 or 3 hairs that it cant brush out, it catches but doesn't get stuck in the bristles nor do the bristles rip them out. So i can safely get my hair scissors and snip the small knot out. Thank you for the recommendation

I believe for her hair I used Cantu Argan oil leave in repair cream and as you can see I didn't really need to use much. When I shampoo and condition, I use the added elasticity of the water-saturated hair to help loosen and work out shed hair and remove/reduce major tangles. I wasn't able to use the brush for a blowout yet, but I think it would provide enough smoothing and tension to get a nice smooth blowout.

Yes because it has more surface area, it can handle more hair all at once and chop a chunk out of the time it would take to detangle. Plus that other brush was very cheap and fell apart after some time. I think I went thru about 3 of the cheap Diane brush. That Diane brush also had little ball tips they just weren't as pronounced so all in all everything is better with this Denman brush.

Thanks so much! 😊 I was on the fence about buying this brush. I appreciate your review and I made my order. I recently tried the Spornette brush and a wooden paddle brush with bamboo bristles (and no balls on the end). Not overly thrilled with either and would rather use them for blow drying rather than detangling. I will say that I combat the hair wrapping issue by gently pulling the brush out of my hair rather than just pulling it all the way through to avoid the tightening wrapped hair and breakage. I hope you can visualize that.

I received the brush in the mail Monday and used it today. I love it , I have thick dense hair and was able to detangle my whole head in a short amount of time. I didn't feel yanking or breakage using it, and had way less hair come out the brush after using it. Thank you for putting me on to this brush
