That was a heavy takeoff even if that might be a reduced takeoff power setting. Wonderful airplane and video. I still enjoy airline videos after being a retired airline Captain.

0:46 A bird of the feathered variety almost bit the dust...and caused a mess on this lovely Dreamliner. P.S. I see that many others have already commented on that...lol. Was pretty cool, though. Sure wish there could be a way to reliably keep birds away from airports. P.P.S. LOVE that Dreamliner wing. Most beautiful and elegant wing in the biz, IMO.

The GE GenX engines are humongous. You can only appreciate it by being up close. You must have flown from business class for that angle!

Not "GE GenX". The GE is already in the name. So it's just GEnx. Which read "GenX" Similar like GE-90 (for 777) or GE-9X (for 777x) no one calls them "GE Ge-90"

Wow! Watch how the wingtip startrs to really bend up as the aircraft rotates and the wings take the full load!

Watch the wing tip, you can see it's straining to fly just before lift off.

Flew for 15 years from the states to Germany & Holland on earlier versions of the beautiful bird-787. Always in the upper deck and always comfortable.

im sure you still used reduced thrust. This powerful aerodynamic airplane would have no problem lifting off at max ATOG

Thank-you for sharing this takeoff from Munich. This is Guerry, and again I enjoyed the video very much. By the way, if you did not have the chance to read my last comment, I am now out of the hospital and back home. I’ve been to Germany many times on business, and I absolutely have the time of my life there. In fact, of all the European countries I’ve visited, I like Germany the best... Actually, Luxembourg is a beautiful country also. But in regards to Germany, my business has generally been in the west, not far from Ramstein. I am hoping to one day visit Munich and the Black Forest area. I am just throwing this out there, but are you a pilot for United? I’m making a guess here, because it seems as if your flights are for repositioning. The first thing I noticed in your video was how quiet the 787 is as compared to everything else you have flown. Virtually, the only thing I heard was a quiet whine from the engine. When you became airborne, there was the added sound of the air passing by, which was much quieter than I had imagined. Now I would like to see someone’s video who is flying in an A350 to compare the 2 aircraft. The other feature I noticed during the takeoff roll was how high the wingtip flexed as the aircraft accelerated. It is difficult to determine how high it became, for it started at the top of the distant tree line and became noticeably above it just before rotation. Unfortunately, there was a lot of haze which somewhat interfered with the view. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the aerial view of Munich once the aircraft gained some altitude. Once the aircraft finished its bank to the south, there was a nice shot of the airport. I never stop to be amazed at how much different the European landscape is from the US. Although it is still beautiful to view, both Europe’s rural and urban areas are laid out in a more random fashion, whereas those in the US are more structured in a checkerboard pattern. Did you send the “FlightAware” items to me? After I got home, a friend opened my packages for me, and I was unable to view the return address. If it was you, thank-you so very much. I love “FlightAware”. Again, thank-you for sharing your takeoff with us. I hope to write my comments much quicker in the future.

@@maxenroute: Well then, they mystery is solved. I almost bought a Grumman Traveler many, many moons ago. It was a bit under powered with 3 passengers, and the price was too high. I wish I could get back into flying again, but I'd never pass the physical. Thank-you for your reply.
