You shouldn’t need that riser plate off the 301. The shaker and air cleaner base is different from the 301, 400 and 403 with how they sit in the opening. I have a 79 with a 400 and don’t use a carb riser. And the shaker fits fine. Also “most” aluminum intakes are to tall for the shaker and I’ve found that the factory cast iron one works best

I have a cast iron intake as well. And my car was all original and thats what it had on it and it fit perfectly. Ill try with and without and see what it does.

Mentioned it in a few other videos. Its my dads car and he is building a new shop so it is at a stand still until the shop is done. All the funds have went into the new shop. We will be back on it as soon as the shop is finished.
