Doing a repaste on a 7900xtx ASRock Phantom Gaming card. I went with PTM7950 for the sheer performance/cooling along with longevity. A normal thermal paste will over time eventually pump out at least from what I’ve heard. The PTM7950 will completely bypass that making it a long lasting solution while being very safe considering it’s non-conductive unlike some thermal sheets.
What you’ll need if you want to do this:
PTM7950
You can get the authentic version from DIYmod or the (potential)replica from Amazon. Which the Amazon one is what I got and it worked amazingly.
Screwdriver
Cotton pads/Q-tips
Isopropyl alcohol 70/91 preferably 91 since it’ll dry faster.
Soft bristle brush/ ESD brush
Scissors
Tweezers preferably ESD Tweezers
Put the PTM7950 in the fridge for an hour before starting as that’ll make it easier to work with.
After you're done with putting the PTM7950 on the gpu and you install it back into your pc. Run the gpu through some stress tests not only to check if the pad got installed properly but to let the heat cycles make it work as good as it can. Not totally necessary as by normal use of gaming or anything else that's gpu intensive will put it through the heat cycles. If you want to do it yourself however this is what i did.
10 minutes stress test with the heaven software.
10 minutes "cooling" I just turned off the stress test and let my pc idle.
Repeat 5 times.
I’m going to be uploading much more from now on. Not just car stuff but some self care content, vlogs, and maybe more pc stuff. I’m going to have much more fun with this instead of keeping it strictly informational. Thanks for watching and reading.
