What caught my attention in this story is that it was not the physical appearance that drew attention but rather the familiar hand gesture. I believe this fact is much more significant and indicates a high probability that it was indeed "my love." Physical resemblance is not uncommon, but a distinctive hand gesture is unique. Thank you, Luke

Thank you Luke! Your podcast helpful Recently i decited to prepare to the IELTS exam and i am going to elevate mt skills. And i am sure your podcast is one of the best ways to get ready for this exam. I have watched almost all your videos and i am going to repeat because i need more listening practice your postings are really amazing, you are a very gifted teacher, it is a huge pleasure to see you. I don't know which of the tow short stories with Doppegangers i loved the most, and if i don't love the tow as much as i loved that very emotinal story named the mountain with that woman too perfect to be real. But what i wanted to tell here is that you are not only a remaquable teacher, but also a good actor, when you explain the state of mind and the feelings of your character. I adored the expression of your face in first Doppeganger; there you really were looking like othelo in tho moment when he discovered the the betayal but who cares? But the most extraodinary in all you do is that you teach your students not only the English language, but also how one must to read the prose if not to write it again thank you so much for all these presents. Sorry for all possible mistakes in this too long message. Goog luck and happinness.

Thank you Luke for this wonderful video and thoughtful discussion on the story and the language. I think the use of 'was' with 'you' is because here 'you' is not used as pronoun and the doer of the action but it works as a word for the person the lady had seen. So in that case third person singular and that's why 'wasn't' is used. It's a very beautiful expression by the writer.

Thank you, Luke. I like your lessons very much, especially short stories. You always choose something interesting. It's such a heartbreaking story, I can't even imagine how this woman felt at that moment. And your own story about Dave is incredible!
