Can't wait to sit and watch all these DVD's. Absolutely in awe of what Buck can do with a horse using respect, undertanding and patience. Amazing guy...

Buck is a real horseman, and my favorite! The only thing I've ever seen that I don't personally agree with him is not letting the horse smell something that's new to him first. But that's it!

Yes I got through them a couple of months ago. Absolutely amazing, loved them and have put a few of his teachings into practice with my own horses with fantastic results! :)

I pray I will be a quarter as good of a horseman as buck when I'm his age.

Pressure and release with timing, rhythm, and feel. The reward is the release of pressure. It takes time but it works very well and is worth the effort.

I adore buck I did something similar with an 8 yr old stallion I just got at the sale barn but with a saddle pad. I didn't touch him with it but got it next to him and he did really well. tomorrow we will do it again till he understands the saddle pad won't kill him

I had a recue Dobermann that was afraid of chain link fences. Took a year but I helped him over it. Even to the point of throwing rocks at one behind him. I got him when we was around 2 yrs old so there was a good chance he'd be ok. They're big stupid puppies for a very long time.

Just asking cause I don't know much about horses, would it help if Buck would step on a tarp and show the horse ''it's nothing''?
@sonseere10

+Sigismund1978 That would be the 'higher horse' (Buck) showing that the tarp is not going to eat him. Yes, it would help the horse to see that. Much better if there was a another horse in the round pen (higher than the horse he is working) that walks over the tarp unafraid.

+sonseere10 thats not quite how horses think, they cannot put themselves in your shoes so to speak, that's a human way of thinking. this is a way that makes sense to them. also unless the tarp is weighted down walking over a tarp can be very dangerous depending on the horse.

+Ella Childs Like all things horse related, it depends. If the horse has been properly desensitized to the tarp, the ends don't need to be weighted down. That is, if the horse has already learned that the ends of the tarp moving with a breeze is no big deal. If he hasn't learned that yet, then of course weight the ends. A horse is either higher than another horse or lower than another horse. There is no in between. A person working with a horse needs to establish himself/herself as the leader (high horse). I have worked with higher horses on many occasions to do a task that they do well, showing a 'lower' horse (both in the round pen) that the task is no big deal. It works well. Can a human take on that roll? Sometimes, it depends. Horses are the best teachers of horses. And they do a pretty darn good job of teaching humans if the humans are only willing to 'listen'.

Go out in a field and just watch your horse's, you will have such piece. I love my horses very much. I have one that tries to sit in my lap so I scratch his butt.
