She wrote this when she was 16. Very powerful song to be written at any age, let alone as a teenager. I think sometimes we forget just how good a writer Kelly is. Sometimes her songwriting gets over shadowed by her unbelievably beautiful voice. We all have our own opinions about music, but for me Kelly is the best singer I've ever heard.

I’m a man in my mid 50’s in 2024…was in my mid 30’s with two young kids after a very hard divorce in 2001. I love music. But I never really followed American Idol all that much at the time. Yet, I was quite aware of who Clarkson was. Just by sheer marketing of the program in season one & her the winner, etc. But I can say without a doubt…Kelly’s vocals are most definitely in the Top 5 of any professional female singer/artist of all time. Not even a question. The best ever?🤔. Certainly she is arguably in that conversation. Regardless, she’s one of my top female vocalists. For my ears.

Growing up listening to this, you think shes singing about an ex lover. Listening as an adult you realize shes singing about her mom, and the mistakes she made that affected her daughter in big ways. This song is for all the sons and daughters who were never allowed to be children, because they had to be parents to their parents. ❤❤❤ I understand now

I came here because I was abused by my former coworkers at my two former daycare centers. I don't know why I still think of them, I'm trying so hard to get rid of them but they have verbally abused me. And the worst part is that they never apologized. When I called them out for it, they were either in denial, "forgot," or claimed that we made up (which I barely recall at all).
