@@soltaire01 The lyrics of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" can be seen as a mix of irony, confusion, and teenage disillusionment. Here's a breakdown: - Opening Lines: "Load up on guns, bring your friends" suggests a reckless party culture, hinting at both fun and danger. - Chorus: "With the lights out, it's less dangerous" implies that darkness can obscure reality, while "Here we are now, entertain us" reflects a sense of apathy and demand for distraction. - Contradictions: Lines like "I'm worse at what I do best" express self-doubt and the struggle with identity. -Opposites: The references to "a mulatto, an albino" may symbolize societal outcasts, highlighting feelings of alienation. - Final Thoughts: The song encapsulates a blend of fear of adulthood, rebellion, and nihilism, resonating with the chaotic emotions of youth

My Storytime : I was never a fan of Nirvana before. I was always a Taylor Swift girlie, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Shakira etc. That was until I met this boy called Jakob in high school. I started high school and immediately began singing courses there, as I had been doing them since I was 10. I love singing, it's my therapy. Anyway.... in my classes I met these 3 really cool boys. I'm going to call the other two O and B, but Jakob is the main one. I'd been friends with O for over 10 years, so I met some of his new high school friends : B and Jakob. They were really nice, and I got on really well with them, especially Jakob. We clicked. I don't know how, or why... we just did. For just over a year, we got quite close. We started hanging out as a group and doing whatever. One day, the three boys (who were all music fanatics but the opposite to the type of music I liked) entered themselves in this band competition thing for our school concert. The boys were very talented at their instruments, but Jakob was a master on the drums. He was top grade, and exemplary. They needed a singer for their lil mini band, so they asked me to join them. I owed them a favour, and so agreed. I then found out we were doing Nirvana. This song. I almost cried. I was not a rock singer, I had the softest voice and couldn't even scream properly. I told the boys this, and being the sweethearts they were, they softened the song into a gentle rock song. We worked for months on it, and then performed it. It was a huge success. By this time, I'd realised my feelings for Jakob. I was 16 and in love... dangerous. Nobody knew, not even my girlie friends. I couldn't tell them, it was too embarrassing. Almost another year passed, and my feelings for Jakob were only growing. We got closer and closer. We held debates about which singers were better, we teased each other no end, we connected on an emotional level... it was great. I was 17 and in love... even more dangerous. I could never have predicted what was about to happen. I started noticing small changes in Jakob : he started forgetting things, becoming quite snappy, always tired and started missing days of school without a good reason. It was so unlike Jakob, I was worried. O and B told me he was going through a lot with his mental health, but he wasn't telling them anything. We all began to worry. Jakob was always so happy and positive and kind and funny to everyone he met, we never thought we could ever be sad or pessimistic or rude. He never meant it... he never meant it. Weeks went by. He stopped coming into school, he wasn't answering anyone's texts or calls. We started freaking out. We feared his safety, his health. We tried going round to his house to see him, but his parents said he was too depressed and sick to see anyone. One fateful Friday evening, I was doing some homework when I got my first text from Jakob in nearly a month. The message said simply "I'm sorry" with a crying emoji and love heart emoji. Deep down I knew... but I couldn't bring myself to believe it. I called O and B, in floods of tears, telling them everything. We rushed round to his house that same night at 10pm, desperate to prove ourselves wrong. His mum answered in tears. He'd comm!ted su!c!de the same way Kurt Cobain did. She had no clue how, or even why. Jakob was a Nirvana geek, he was obsessed with Kurt Cobain. In some ways, it seems right that he died the same way he did, as that seems like what Jakob would've wanted. We later found out that he had been sneaking drugs. His older sister found his diary, which explained why he was so depressed : it was because of me. Apparently he'd fallen deeply in love with me, and tormented himself when he couldn't bring himself to say. He told his closest closest friend and apparently he'd laughed and said that a girl like me would never love him back. Little did he know that I felt the exact same way as Jakob. He'd tortured himself for months, not wanting to ruin our friendship, not knowing what to say, doubting whether or not I'd ever see him like that. He started taking drugs which led to the side effects of being ill-tempered, forgetting things etc. I've never felt so guilty in my life. If I had told him how I felt, he would never have comm!ted, never doubted himself, never tormented himself with self hate. This song brings me to tears now. It's homage for me in many ways. The lyric about the group being together forever means the world. Our little band and friend group will ALWAYS be together, no matter what. I'm now 20 and in love... ever so dangerous, as I've truly truly learnt. Jakob is still my true love. I'm sorry Jay, I will always love you! ❤🩹😘💔😔

Girl, I am SO sorry this has happened to you. Its a different type of hurt when someone you love and connected on a deeper level passed away. I know you will always blame yourself and feel guilty but dont. Jakob would want to see you happy and open your heart to someone else, he don’t want to be the cause of you not wanting to find someone. I cant imagine the pain and grief you’re going through because i have a boyfriend and my biggest fear is him dying, i would not know what to do but all I know is its a different type of unbearable pain that I pray I would not experience. I hope you don’t blame yourself anymore and continue to live life and be happy in honor of him. When you hear this song I hope you are filled with happy memories with him not the pain, guilt and anger because Jakob would not want that.🙏🏻
