Nice. My wife has the original pre-production rally supra w/vins intact. Dang cool to see this one here. Hopefully it has been submitted to The Supra Registry and is verified and listed.

I remember seeing one in Toyota USA's collection (It might have been the automatic, can't recall)...the one that the Toyota museum had didn't have a VIN IIRC and was a prototype. The obviously fun part of the car are the Whelan strobe lights, since these cars are not street legal.

It's a JDM spec chassis and interior car that's LHD with a US spec drivetrain. All Japanese JDM Delivered JZA80 RZs were hard top. The JDM Aerotops were non turbo spec, bar the Auto GZ Aerotops with the GTE.

I don't think the IndyCar thing adds too much value. The car itself is a super clean, low miles, close to original Supra. Any Supra in that condition is worth big money. It's definitely a unique car.

Not is the US market. Cloth seats were reserved for the non-turbo model teenage girls were gifted after graduating high school. Most of those had leather as well.

Why would they have a almost 30yr old pace car? They always use new cars?

@@MattMatt77 Not sure what you mean, it's not currently being used as a pace car. Unless it's paced events for Gridlife and I missed that somehow. They're grassroot events and don't have any manufacture involvement so I could see that happening.

@@dln.sweeney First off your first sentence contradicts your 2nd sentence. Also my original comment explains everything. Why would you use a 30yr old car for a pace car? EVERYONE use modern sports cars for so many positive reasons.

I never understood the oem purist mindset for buying cars and let me explain,90% of cars modified that are sold have basic bolt ons like intake/header/exhaust.this is so simple to swap out for oem that it makes no sense when buyers turn them down for oem especially when modded cars are not as valuable as oem in many cases. so one could literally take off these mods in a hour, sell them and buy oem parts so why is the oem purist so concerned with mods when they can so easily be swapped out? one theory i had was modded usually means the car was beat on hard where oem was more likley driven soft, another is people buy oem jdm so they can mod the cars the way they want from start to finish. so what peple should do when modding their cars is keep the oem parts in the shed and when it cmes time to sell they can swap them back on and sell the aftermarket nes. aftermarket nowadays with tasteful mods isnt like it was many years ago, today you can get aftermarket that is far superior to oem parts. it would be nice to see changes where aftermarket parts that are superior increase the cars value,it would be nice to kill this idea that makes basic bolt ons scare off oem purist for reasons i said before,if it takes a hour to swap parts then it shouldnt be s frowned apon by purist, most cars are not widebody where the panels are cut up they are simple blt on mst times.
