There was a different way for the honey and it's only 3 steps. 1:Put the 3g jar in front of the 5g one. 2:Fill the 5g jar as much as the 3g,not the 3g jar. 3:Fill half of the remaining 5g jar.

The honey jar one also works if you fill the 3 gallon dump honey into 5 gallon and do it once more. That way you will have 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jar and dump out the 5 gallon jar. Dump the 3 gallon ( which has 1 gallon ) into 5 gallon and fill up 3 gallon. Finally dump 3 gallon into 5 gallon jar to get 4 gallons.

10:45 This one made no sense, you would have to start by subtracting the given numbers from 30, after that the fourth number is the only one that doesn't get added to another. From there you go to the second number which would be 5, then the 3rd number would be 5 as well, then the first number would be 9. The 5th one would be 9 as well because 14-5=9. So I demand a refund on that one. That is how everyone I know did it.

??? Let's start by having a = 1st number, b = 2nd number, etc. and try to follow your logic. If you subtract c + e = 14 and b + c = 10 from a + b + c + d + e = 30, you would end up subtracting c twice. This leaves you with a + d - c = 6. If we substitute for what we know about the b (the second number), we get (2b - 1) + (b + 1) - (10 - b) = 6. This turns into 2b - 1 + b + 1 -10 + b = 6, which turns into 4b - 10 = 6.
