What a steal!! You watch, Brenden Rice is going to pull a 'Tom Brady'. What do I mean by that? Tom Brady was picked late at the 199th pick, had a chip on his shoulder for being passed over by so many teams, went to work, and had the career he had. Brendan Rice got picked 225th, being passed over by all those other picks.... he'll probably take that as a big huge motivator, bust his butt, and probably have a multiple Pro Bowl type career.

because he isn't good? If you don't have elite speed...you MUST have good route running. For example...Keenan Allen and Devante Adams...not burners but overcome it with elite route running. This kid has neither...he will get no separation in the NFL, notice just how much of his production came off of scramble drills and extended plays. And his interviews....Yikes. At least try to PRETEND to be humble...this dude has no where near the athleticism to be as cocky as he is.

His GPS times are actually some of the fastest in the country and he backs that up at the combine. Max speed was 4th fastest among wrs at 23.7 mph. It's kinda weird how his whole 40 only was a 4.5 maybe slow starter?

I absolutely loved a few picks in this draft but without a doubt, the one that got me the most excited, was getting Brenden Rice in the 7th round. I was stunned he didn't go much sooner and deeply disappointed that the Chargers didn't draft him in the 4th, 5th or even the 6th round. When I realized he was shockingly still available at 225, I would have been heartbroken had the Chargers not turned in his name!!!!

Hot take: Rice could thrive as a slot receiver - run game: has the size and physicality to block linebackers - passing game: plays “dirty work” style football. Can take quick/short catches and fight for yards, great at catching in traffic and across the middle Third downs: all of the above, has great hands, runs back to the ball when going for a catch. Reliable overall. Not saying he should be slot full time, but having that versatility helps when plugging him into lineups.
