This video documents the installation of a multi-tiered swale system at Fabled Oaks Farm in Temecula, CA capable of infiltrating between 750,000 to 1.5 million gallons of run-off and run-on precipitation during an average rain year of 12" - water that formerly used to be lost before it had a chance to sink into the soils, ran by the property on the roadway, or caused erosion damage and siltation in the creek. It's just so good for my mental health to watch real people and their businesses improve the life and health of soil, plants, fauna and humans on planet Earth. Looks good. I often wonder if it might be worthwhile putting plants like sisal and/or cactus in between the stones in the silt catchment area or dissipation pool. These plants will cover the ground nicely, and the cactus will produce edible fruit each season too.
