7x12 Ron Paulk inspired tool trailer

This is my 7x12 SMART (Small Mobile Awesome Rolling Toolbox) tool trailer inspired by Ron Paulk. The trailer fitout took about 40 hours to build overall and I spent about $1,300 in materials. The investment in both time and materials is negligible considering your ability to work efficiently once it's in use. So far, this trailer has absolutely changed my work flow for the better.

I had that same router bit set from Amazon. Advice: a dab of lock tite on the alien screws holding the bearings or be prepared to have them spin off while in use.

It depends! I’d say if you do more handyman work, the ART would be great with saws already setup. I work with a lot of 16’ lengths so it wasn’t optimal for me.

Nice work looks great! I'm considering doing this build in a 7ft wide trailer what width did you scale down the left and right side cabinets to make the smart design fit? What size did it leave your walkway?

Did you happen to weigh your trailer before you built all this and then weigh it before you loaded all your stuff in it then after you loaded it? My 7x12 has a 3500 lb axle. Have 1550 payload to work with. I doubt after doing this a guy would come even close to 1550 pounds of storage and tools. Just curious if you did that.

No, it’s something you get pretty good at pretty fast. That said, we don’t normally work in cities. Mostly rural areas/suburbs. That comes with it’s own challenges though

how mand tools fall out when turning corner , like in my van lol

Luckily, almost none! I've had a couple instances where my chalk lines bounce off the shelf, but the miter saw gets a clamp and the rest hold just fine behind the 3/4"x3/4" ledgers. Each cubby gets one tool, so nothing is stacked and slipping/falling around. The drawers have a notch that sits behind a 1/16" stopblock so they don't open in transit. You need to slightly lift the drawer to pull it out.

Put some candle wax on those drawer slides it works wonders thank me later.
