Sir, where can we see Young's experiment done with two parallel plane waves travelling in opposite direction with same amplitude where E and B waves are seen 90 degrees out of phase. Please give website reference sir.

Dear Dr. Lewin, in acoustic standing waves, a pattern of alternating "node-antinode-node-antinode.." also developes when the cavity is open on both ends.. is there a equivalent to this in EM ?

yes there is - *wave guides* I cover some of this in my 8.03 lectures + demos. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waveguide

Sir why electric field vector is 90 out of phase from magnetic field vector? I didnt understand it!!
@lecturesbywalterlewin.they92595 жыл бұрын
it follows from the differential eqs. I cannot add to that.

Ok sir!!! Thank you!!😊

Disha Khurana E and B are also always perpendicular so this manifests itself through phase in oscillation

What about the right-hand rule? I don't get it. Does it reverse in the reflection?

right hand rule is +Xroof cross +Yroof is +Zroof Roof indicates unit vector. cross means vector cross product
