Hello Pr Lewin, I just finish to watch the last of your 8.03 lectures. I watched every lectures from 8.01, 8.02 and 8.03 and it was an awesome journey into the world of physics. I loved watching them and I learned a lot of amazing things. I have downloaded all of your lectures in order to show them to my children if I have some one day. You were an amazing teacher and I would like to thank you very much for your lectures. I will sure think about you every time I'll see a rainbow, you can be proud of what you have done. Thanks again I wish you all the best.

Dear Dr. Lewin I am a nuclear engineer from Barcelona prematurely retired due to an illness . Now, after the transplant, my brain is on fire again and my great desire is to obtaint the doctorate in astrophysics. At this point I want to thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and your art of teaching with strangers. Your lectures have been a luxury review to begin this year my new studies. Thank you for all, Sir. Jordi García Sentís

+Jordi GS Jordi, It's wonderful that your goal now is a PhD in Astrophysics. A few days ago LIGO (conceived by Professor Rai Weiss of MIT) made the most important contribution to astrophysics in the past 100 years. Astrophysics is one of the richest and most fascinating sciences. I have published 450 astrophysics publications in my 43 years at MIT. May I suggest that you read my book "For the Love of Physics"?

Dear Prof. Lewin, I followed your 8.02 and 8.03 and loved them. Actually I learned that I have not learned during my bachelor and postgraduate. As an engineer-to-be I gained spinal-engraved concepts about Electromagnetics & physics. I have not participated in any course like yours. You have perfectly set up the example how good teaching could be. And this is the course that I realize that knowledge is only powerful when it is made easily accessible. I want to thank you!

Hello professor. I'm a second-year physics undergraduate student and I thought I'd make some pre-preparations for the next semester during this summer break. The previous semester was very bad for me because of some special (I'm from Turkey) problem, I started your 803 classes with just the ambition of it. I thought I would get tired quickly and quit after a lesson or two because I went to work with JUST ambition. But now I am eager to do my best to do something in physics and science in the future ahead. Listening to you, talk about physics gave me encouragement on many issues. Moreover, the things you told and taught are incalculable. I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to meet you and thank you because I already sense that you are changing the way of very valuable things about my future. I can't explain it in simple words or with a KZbin comment that is open to everyone, but thank you, professor. I will use what I learned this summer and remember you every time I see a rainbow, with your voice "Oh physics works!" of course :) Stay healthy and safe. 💛

When my 9th class session commenced I was for the the first time introduced to motion of objects and how to study it using mathematics and i was blown away how you could use mathematics to do such things so i came on youTube and ran across your lectures but i found that i needed a lot of high level mathematics so i picked up my brothers old books learnt every mathmatical prerequisite required for the first course then did all calc differtintial equation linear algebra from mit ocw and watched all your lectures till now and I have to say this was for me the right way to utilize my time instead of playing video games all day my 9th half yearly exams are about to begin so i wont be doing all this extra stuff for a while but learning all these really motivated me to become a phyicist thank you prof lewin ☺☺☺☺

Dear professor, like many of those who commented on this video, I would like to thank you for all of the videos that you have shared with us. I too have had the privilege of enjoying 801, 802, and 803 and would like to thank you not only for the incredible knowledge that you have taught me, but also love of physics that I now have. I owe my physics education to you (I guess I now owe mit a tuition check), and I am only sad that I cannot find any courses on modern physics taught by you. When I see a rainbow, I do and will always remember you!

Lectures by Walter Lewin. They will make you ♥ Physics. I know this is a long shot but is there any way we could get you to make a series of lectures on modern physics and quantum mechanics?
@lecturesbywalterlewin.they92597 жыл бұрын
If I did this it would cost about $150k for each lecture series (not counting my salary). Apart from that I have about 400 videos on this channel and that will have to be my legacy. I will be 81 next year.

Now, THIS is how you conclude a series of lectures. It seems to be a lost art and it pains me to always hear that the last words professors say are "see you on the final exam day".

Dear Walter, I'm from Argentina and I'm starting an undergraduate in Physics in January next year. I've watched 8.01,8.02 and 8.03. I'm currently trying to watch 18.01, 18.02 and 18.03. Do you recommend me to watch 6.00 on computation? If you have some advice from your early glorious experience, I'll be fully thanked. You are an example for all the new scientific generation!! Thanks a 10^6

Dear Pablo, If you are starting undergraduate Physics in January and you have already 8.01, 8.02 and 8.03 under you belt, you are in GREAT shape. Indeed it is a good idea to take 18.01, 18.02 and 18.03 as well. All that is a HUGE load. January is only 3 months away. My advice is to work as much as possible on the 18 courses and not to start 6.00 now.

Dear Professor Lewin, I've finished all three lecture playlists (8.01, 8.02 and 8.03), and have been following your biweekly problems. Do you have any suggestions on what to learn after 8.03 waves/vibrations? Is it 8.04? Thank you.

yes 8.04 is the logical next step. Professor Adams is a great lecturer. You find all his lectures on this channel. kzbin.info/door/iEHVhv0SBMpP75JbzJShqwplaylists?disable_polymer=1

Suppose a proton is replaced by positronium in H-like configuration what will be the new total energy of the system?
@lecturesbywalterlewin.they92597 жыл бұрын
positronium is extremely unstable.
@Abhishekdubeybusted7 жыл бұрын
This is the exact question : Positronium is just like a H-atom with the proton replaced by the positively charged positron. What would be the ground state energy of positronium ? The answer to this says that in this case the effective mass will change to m(electron)/2 . Hence he then puts this in the formula of energy. This m(electron)/2 came from this formula : m(effective) = m(electron)*m(electron) / { m(electron) + m(electron) } I am unable to understand this solution
@lecturesbywalterlewin.they92597 жыл бұрын
The mass of a H atom is the mass of the proton. The mass of a positronium "atom" is about 1800 times less. Apart from this it's a meaningless question as positronium is HIGHLY unstable.
