[#8] 12/4/1988--Bridgeport Speedway, Bridgeport, NJ--Modifieds

The 9th annual Bridgeport Turkey Chase Race was delayed by a week and was held in December of 1988, combining the Big and Small Block Modifieds. Qualifying heats, consolations, a Winners Classic and the 40-lap feature race are all included in this video. #CL22 Chip Slocum defeated #85 Jimmy Horton in the Winners Classic, but Horton dominated the main event over #86 Elvin Felty, #19 Kenny Brightbill, #36 Roger Laureno and #83 Pete Visconti.

Jimmy's Syracuse car that he raced that October. Lost to Kenny Brightbill when he got into the wall while leading after it had started raining. This was most likely his last modified race and win for awhile, due to him going full-time NASCAR Winston Cup in 1989. Thanks for sharing, I'm a huge Jimmy Horton fan and was at this race! I miss the old 5/8 mile track.

Actually, Jimmy cut back to only 8 Winston Cup weekends in 1989. He won 13 modified races that year.
