Recall that Fire Giants chased the drakes from the mountaintops and that they had the Fell God within them. One REALLY cool parallel I found in the Radahn fight was that in the lore Radahn had always idolized godfrey and fashioned his armor in Serosh's image. In godfrey's first phase serosh is hanging off godfrey's back with this flowing translucent hair, and you know who else has flowing translucent glowing hair, who hangs on the back of someone? Right, miquella and radahn. Not only that, but Serosh was said to quell godfrey's lust for battle, and in the phase transition in Radahn's fight, he looks like hes bouta go ape shit on you, but miquella comes and hops on his back and re-centers him or refocuses him, sort of like how serosh does for Godfrey.

Great video as always, lots of cool lore stuff starting to get uncovered that I had no clue about! The Moorth ruins bit makes a lot of sense, but it gets me wondering about the importance of that settlement before Rellana turned it into a crater. Considering it houses 2 curseblades guarding 2 upgrade materials, a Miquella cross, and the crossroads for about 3 different paths to new areas, it leads me to believe that had to be a pretty important Hornsent settlement before Messmer's siege - especially with the ruins hiding the path that leads to Gaius, Metyr, the Shaman Village, and the Scadutree Avatar.
@ohiowrslr14

Also not relevant at all but a fun bit of trivia, you can technically get through the DLC with only 3 bosses: if you take the path to behind the Fort of Reprimand, that allows you to get to Scadu Altus without fighting Rellana. Then, if you take the path to the Shadow Keep back section from the Church District, you can drop down onto the main Shadow Keep path without fighting the hippo. Therefore you can get to Messmer with zero bosses fought, get his kindling, then beat Romina for the sealing tree to unlock Enir Ilim and the final boss. I'm sure this is well known atp in the speedrunning community, but I found it to be a really cool bit of routing that doesn't require any crazy jumps or skips, and shows off how open the Realm of Shadow map really is!

Also my butterfingers butt died to the second tree sentinel, but this happening for some reason removed the ability to summon Jolan. I wonder what causes that, but this dlc is riddled with weird little bugs so it could just be one of them. Another is using certain ashes of war before Obsidian Llamia's ash of war will change the final swing of it's combo attack. One in particular (endure) just takes out the final swing of the combo and CCs you instead for a couple seconds it's weird. Using blood tax on a random weapon then switching to Relanna's blades will change the magic part of it's ash of war too. After using blood tax the final hit of Renalla's blade's ash of war magic combo will end with a random blood blade swing.

The Talisman of All Crucible description reads: "Rumored to have sprouted upon giants and is known as the "mother of Crucibles" in ancient tower lore". This means that: 1) the giants had something to do with the crucible 2) the crucible was more powerful when sprouting from their bodies compared to other creatures, since it is referred to as "mother of all crucible". Then we can say that when manifesting in the form of horns like on many other creatures, the crucible on a giant's body would have larger, longer and more numerous horns. The connection with the lamenter is mind blowing. Lamenter clearly has much larger horns than anything else in the game, even has horns sprouting from its eyes that makes him blind. Because of its red hairs and the face on his back it is possible that this creature descends from giants and is not connected to hornsen at all, his would be an explanation for it's oversized horns. Could it be then that what is described as "the state of a denizen of paradise" in the mask description refers to a more powerful connection to the crucible, or even to the "mother of all crucible"? Is it possible then that the hornsent hid this creature out of spitefulness, for it being not of their own race yet having a much stronger connection to the crucible that they themselves had?

The Lamenter's Mask raises your Arcane stat too, which is generally used to represent two things: knowledge of the occult, and taking power from an outer god (as opposed to obtaining that power through worship or other means). Wonder if that has anything to do with anything,,,

About the wizard babies, there’s a big bas relief at the haligtree of two soldiers with babies clinging to their backs. Above the entrance to the prayer room when coming from Loretta. The haligtree is full of connections to the dlc. There’s statues of a guy in long robes holding the same spear you find in every messmer soldier tent and the black keep. Idk why they have a million of those spears but don’t use them

I think the DLC is a good hint on what the next FromSoft game will look like: a few truly huge massive "legacy dungeons" with an open word being more vertical and less "just big in its horizontality" with more magic/faith (according to some reddit leaks, eg Spellbound). Myazaki said that ER was almost his perfect game, but in another interview he said he would like to explore some more esoteric concepts. If it is true that the next story collaborator is Brandon Sanderson, oh boy, it is gonna be a wild ride 😎

YES we need more focus on the Lamenter. Since finishing the DLC i always felt he was one of the most important characters and absolutely key to understanding the past of Marika and the hornsent. I don’t know the answers yet but please lets get more focus on this guy who clearly shapeshifts and can clone himself just like our dear queen Marika.

I don't know if there is any direct connection between the fire Giant but there is a connection between the fire Giant and the hornsent. The furnace visage describes the furnace golems as built in the image of the fell God with a crown of horns around his face. An image that quite literally haunts the hornsent add may be connected to the nightmares that the omen have.

Enir-Ilim being the tower of Babel is a really cool concept. In mythology, the tower was being built to reach up to God himself, but then God scarmbles the communication between the people and created the various languages. In game, the tower does house the gate of divinity, but Miquella uses his charm to bind people, even bitter enemies, together rather than break them apart.

Worth mentioning in regards to the Lamentor form and the Fire Giants: there's item descriptions in the DLC that specifically mention the Flame of Ruin, and how it "tormented" the Hornsent, meaning that the Fire Giants and the Fell Flame were all not only known to the Hornsent civilisation, they were considered enemies. It's likely this is part of why the Lamentors were locked away, given that they seem to be a fucked up hybrid between Hornsent and Fire Giant, they'd likely be considered abominable.

I think one thing I’d like to see in the next souls like installment, is more visual customization for the character. Outside of character creation. Changing pauldrons and tassets on plate harness, more colors for the metal and also the color of cloth and other textiles. Multiple cloaks and capes. More character changes based on choices like, not just changed eyes but skin too. What if we could keep the frenzy head from that ending, or get a halo from the perfect order ending? Imagine changing the ‘trim’ or gilding on an armor from gold to silver, or silver to bronze. Stuff like that. Imagine not just having draconic eyes, but also getting draconic like skin, almost like Messmer and his snake skin in the second phase. Make the ends of your hair burn like being embered in DS3. Oh you want a blue sword grip instead of a green one? Cool. Change it. You know. Just more cool little stuff. That’s what I want.

I have to wonder if the Lamenter form is somehow connected to the gloam eyed queen, kind of like how the giants are connected to their god and that's why they have it's face on their chest. But then it would beg to reason that the face would be feminine and this looks masculine, or maybe it just looks like a witch? So many questions...

Crucible and Fell God are one in the same. The furnace golems make it pretty clear of that fact. The hornsent took inspiration from it and sought to control its power by refining it's "teachings" into the idea of spiral. Kinda reminds me of how humans have constantly tried to tame and peel back the laws of nature.

Very interesting note about the Lamenter. Good eye. This would further reinforce what can be read in the "Talisman of all Crucibles", which item desc. reads: _A giant mass of intermingling Crucible attributes. Reduces damage taken from critical hits and head shots and improves the effectiveness of rolling and backstepping, but also increases damage taken at all times. _*_Rumored to have sprouted upon giants and is known as the "mother of Crucibles" in ancient tower lore._* Combine that with the Furnace Golems and their visages - both the appearance and description* of the collectable ones, and the appearance of the ones on their hips - and now this, this all further paints the picture that the Giants, the Omens, the Fell God and the Crucible are all related somehow. Makes you wonder how Radagon connects to this all...and what's with the black flames and projectiles? Plus the invisibility and misery? Hmmm, some connection to Destined Death, but without the power of the Rune... but how, and why? I suppose Omens do have a connection to DD through their ability to see evil spirits that haunt their nightmares, and their ability to call upon wraiths. Plus the sky in the Dung Eater's Age of Despair ending is very similar to the sky in Godwyn's dream. Hmmm... *Description reads as: _A smaller imitation of the furnace golem's visage. Material used for crafting items. Exceedingly rare to find. A stone mask surrounded by curled horns, depicting the fell god of fire that haunts the sagas of the hornsent._

Lamenters are the ascended form of the hornsent apparently and even closer to the crucible. The crusible god is likely the fell god himself from reading the furnace golem visage. So it makes sense that he'd manifest on their backs and give them red hair. Makes me think of the leonine misbegotten, red wolves and red bears and how they also have red hair and some have horns. It seems to be the crucible all along.
@ramoraid
@ramoraid Ай бұрын
@@mralabbad7 I would go further and say that the fellgod/crucible is actually the god that the dragons worshipped. Ancient Dragons have every aspect associated with the "gifts" of crucible. The real reason I think they hid the lamentor is the fact that all his "gifts" are uncontrolled growths and it goes against what they teach about order.
