If this was actually a simulator, the knights and footmen would murder all others. But instead we have "goons with wrenches" murder armored infantry and Spartans are throwing armored knights 20 meters into the air.

Hahaha, yeah, their charge was scarier than the Hussar charge against the Ottomans at the gates of Vienna or the Rohirrim charge at the battle of the Pelennor fields.

There is no way the knights can win with their swords, the spartans are the only ones with spears and that's definitely enough to make them win. If your ennemy has a spear, find a longer spear that's all

@@Az-gv4bj That's not how battles work. Spears have been the most wide-spread weapon throughout history. Yet it was the Roman legions that dominated the ancient times and armored knights and men-at-arms who dominated the high medieval era. None of them used spears. Romans regularly defeated Greek hoplites and Macedonian phalanxes and they didn't even have the full-body armor of knights.

@@Az-gv4bj Battles weren't fought or won with onagers. They we fought and won primarily by Roman heavy infantry. And yes, they went head-on with Greek phalanxes - and won.

Romans using historical legion tactics (tight shield wall, stabbing sword attacks) should have been much tougher... In real life Roman legions DID face off against Greek phalanxes, and the winner wasn't the Greeks.

The Romans learned to out maneuver the phalanx. Head on against a pike wall never went well.

Different between Macedonian phalanx or Phillip the 2nd phalanx and the Hellenistic Phalanx. Phillip formation which later used by his son Alexander had longer spears and smaller shields. That formation would break any head on collision. Roman won bc they manoeuvred behind it. The Spartans use typical Greek hoplite phalanx which has shorter spears and broader shield. In this instant, Roman is superior when they reached closed combat and could use their gladius. This is indicated in history how they crushed the Athenian and Spartan.

@@feanedhell ofc we don't know the truth but from what we know: imagine city which only took strong enough men/women killing others and training soldiers who were trained harshly with vice command can grow fast. They were taff ! But they were quality>quantity if they wanna to grow they should switch later to roman: 1. building 2. roads (what more to say when about 90% of existing roads are roman ones) so they can a) trade b) march fast 3. big army from big empire!

Location in the starting circle is important, with weaker neighbors your numbers stay up, while the second best army has to fight stronger armies, before these two finally met.

What I always noticed, about these simulators, is there is no holding formation when the army is attacking. They charge the opposing army disorganized.

All military battle games are just free for alls. They all have formations but it's essentially just a shape to stand in until the enemy comes then it's time for a free for all.

Yes they would. Lack of visibility and lack of agility due to heavy armoury would be their doom.

@@ΓιάννηςΧαρικαπολυς you clearly haven't seen the videos of the guy doing commando rolls in plate armour. They are protecting without hindering. And Bronze weapons won't penetrate the armour. Even one handed steel swords had difficulties to penetrate. That's why maces and the like were used against armoured opponents.

What? The only ones with spears won!!! Go figure! Remove their spears and run it again! Sure the Spartan phalanx had spears, which they relied on. It was kinda their thing, but if the Romans had pilum and balistas (which they relied on) or the heavy knights had horses (which they relied on) or the guys with wrenches had chainsaws (which they COULD have relied on) then the outcomes could have been very different.

I wonder if it wouldn’t be a good buy anyways, if you don’t have something similar already for a few reasons. You can find out for yourself what you can do, and the additional mods/addons that come with it, and what those do, and then to also create your own. That should be quiet fun.

Imagine fully trained combat ready soldiers. You can clearly see massive damage deflected by their helmets and armor. If any one of those attacks landed on a naked Spartan it would be a mortal wound.
