It's videos like this that truly show the genius of video game soundtracks. Some of the minds behind the music can, in my personal opinion, be comparable to great composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky. I'm glad that ensembles are beginning to perform these works, such as the Symphony of the Goddess program, to prove just how wonderful this music truly is.

man this is not 16 bit... detuning two saw waves to create a phase effect has absolutely nothing to do with 16 bit...
@simonprecheurllarena5 жыл бұрын
@EVIL JOE 16 bit doesn't mean you have more channels for polyphony, it only means your sound waves are more accurately encoded. You see, the concept of what 8 bit means is often misunderstood, people think it refers to old computers but it has nothing to do with it. 8 bit only defines the number of discret levels on which you can encode your sound waves, which is 2^8 = 256 possible levels for 8 bit music.This means less memory used. You are right in saying that this music has got way too much polyphony to work on a NES or an Amiga computer for example, but then saying it is 16 bits makes no sense.
@dorengarcia50975 жыл бұрын
@@simonprecheurllarena The bit rate refers ONLY to the loudness of the individual sample. These are put together with the sample rate to produce pseudo waves. A digital to analogue circut then turns the results into actual waves.
@simonprecheurllarena5 жыл бұрын
Doren Garcia Man, I don’t know why you’re talking about bitrates, it has nothing to do with what we’re discussing here. Bitrate means how many bits you can transmit per second. 8-bit in this context means the size of the register in which you store the amplitude value of the wave at any given time. It’s the resolution of the sound, so to say. Nothing to do with loudness like WTF man go check wikipedia. The loudness of the sample as you say is defined by how big the amplitude of the wave is. And has nothing to do with bitrate by the way. You’re mixing up everything.

Some people might say the sounds more 16 or 32 bit than eight bit, but you never know like some a bit home computers for example, the ZX spectrum only really had one voice, but was drivers you could get 4, 8, 16 or even 32 voices it’s very much the same for the AY3 8910 or the AY 8930 chips they only really have three voices with certain drivers. You can get all the way up to 128 and if you put them on a board, for example the Covox sound voice or whatever I can’t remember the name, but yeah, any of those chips can be driven as 128 to 56 512 or even huge orchestra voices if you know what I mean, you can have up to 4000 instruments at once
