And the ballet version, not the suite version! Insane!

Yeah, I was shocked when I timejumped to Danse Infernale, to see the abrupt fff hit, but instead saw the ballet version buildup. And confirmed it after looking at the length of the video

This is breathtaking work. I really have no other descriptor for it. I almost feel like I appreciate this entire piece more when I can hear every little harmony and line from the same “instrument”, the entire structure is so much more audible this way! It really illustrates how older video game music relied heavily on classical music structure, because it sounds so similar to NES dungeon crawler music at times.

Famitracker for the music (used 0cc-Famitracker for this, now I use the latest branch, Dn-Famitracker) Beforehand, Musescore 3 for writing a full-length reduction of the ballet score to study it, and also for exporting some of the DPCM samples I used in Famitracker. Obs to screen-record both Famitracker and NSFPlay. Blender's VSE for stitching segments together, mirroring the NSFPlay output, and generally fix the timing. Blender's Nodes Editor with videos as textures for the outline effect and brightness changes. On my very old computer the final rendering took like 4 consecutive days with aggressive throttling (using Battle Encoder Shirasé) to avoid overstressing my CPU.

What do the colors mean?
@8GigueBits2 жыл бұрын
Standard colors in NSFPlay Synthesia. For pulse waves they represent duty cycle: pink is 6.25%, red is 12.5%, orange is 18.75%, yellow is 25%, green is 31.25%, cyan is 37.5%, blue is 43.75%, purple is 50%. You may notice I tend to use specific colours for specific instruments, usually blue for bassoon, purple for clarinets and high flute, green and yellow for strings, red to yellow for oboe. White is for triangle wave, "caucasian skin" pink is for sawtooth wave. On the very left (where the keyboard fades away) there are DMC samples (no idea how the color is chosen, they tend to be shades of blue) and noise (yellow/orange when it's pitched periodic noise, greenish otherwise).

'Will be?' You know something we don't know? But seriously tho, dude. People had the same reaction to Stravinsky's own compositons. How is this not playing something on a different instrument?
