So take it from me. Read your books, read your books, read your books. I was dismissed from a nursing program in 2021 because I crammed. I was devastated, but I brushed myself off and I’m going back in the Spring.

I loveeee Prof D. I have watched every video. I have spread your name out there. Great tips! I'm a mid 40's currently finishing nursing school (1 and half yr in part-time LPN school due to death of spouse one week before I started and now currently finishing up online LPN-RN program) and a former school teacher. I have a busy life just like everyone else but if you follow her tips (and mine), nursing school WILL be much easier. I totally agree with your tips. Students ask me what my tips are: watch a variety of KZbin videos to help understand the topic you are on, make Prof D's videos your best friend!!! - her explanations are awesome, buy a ream of white paper and colored markers, don't make it too busy- draw out pictures of the diagnosis, write info that you need to know, most importantly you need to understand the diagnosis and WHY we as nurses are to do, WHY the labs go up or down to that diagnosis, don't just memorize, look at quizlet and pinterest are very helpful too. I personally don't like study groups because fellow students can give wrong info or confuse you even more along with the extra chatter that comes with a bunch of people getting together (even online platforms to this). Make a point to have a room dedicated to your studies. Put your drawings and pictures up on the wall. Get up everyday (like a job) and study. (ex: I get up at 5 ish am, walk my dogs, then fix my coffee and go straight to my home office and stay there for about 5 hours, take restroom breaks (I work part-time in the evening mostly). Do LOTS of practice questions - this will help you understand how to answer your test questions and prepare you for NCLEX. Be organized and don't wait to cram information..... so so so bad!!! I could give so many more tips. Keep going, if something doesn't' work for you, then try something else that does work for you. Good Luck everyone.

Thank you so much for these tips! I have my first exam next week and the point you brought up about ignoring what you see in medical settings and focus on what you’re learning struck a chord with me. A lot of test questions Ive done, I find myself answering from experience and it’s usually wrong

The point about people with medical backgrounds answer question due to real life experiences is so true. I am in nursing school and I was doing that and I would get them wrong so I stoped doing it and answer according to the text book. #Facts

Thank you for this. I passed first semester!! Heading to semester 2 in January. I am an LPN have worked as one for 12 years... you are sooo right I had to make myself forget that I am a nurse because I was answering the questions wrong! It truly is a struggle on that point. I learned towards the end of the first semester to do practice questions and a friend who is also in the RN program referred your channel to me and I have referred your channel to a coworker who is also in a RN program at another school. I truly appreciate you.

"you're turning into Danielle Steel"!! Ohmygosh - you have made me laugh so hard. And what you say is so true - not just for test-taking, but, I think life! Overthinking things and talking one's self out of the right answer or course of action rather than just acting on one's first instinct- it's something so many of us do. I really like this video. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this professor D! Wish that I had found you before getting dismissed last fall semester from my previous school for the BSN degree. Guys take it from me, even if you don't have any background experience in the field if you're stuck with a professor who reads word for word from 100+ pp slides during each lecture, unless you're super smart you won't pass. I was doing fairly decent during my freshman and sophomore years at that school. But when the fall semester of my junior year came, I had a death in my family and was unable to study for both med Surg 1 and pharm 2 exams. Ended up cramming bc we had to do emergency travel to my dad's home country to prepare everything for my grams funeral and viewing (he's the head of the family). Came back, failed both exams, and it just went downhill from there. Pharm was just as bad, in which the professor who was the head of the program and my counselor would just let the students talk about their experiences at work and before you knew the 1hr long class held once a week was over. But God makes miracles happen, and I'm going now for my ASN degree this fall semester at my new school. There giving me the second chance that my previous school would not. And I'm gonna watch professor D's videos to the max 😊. Oh! One tip find out what type of learner you are. For me it was a bit too late, but now I'm gonna be better prepared because I learned that I'm both a visual and hands on learner.
