We do, Lettuce, Carrots, and loads of Green Beans. Especially the beans. It's hard to grow them in the Spring as the Japanese Beetles will decimate the plants. Planted July 10th this year 5wks ago, and they are loaded with blossoms. We'll harvest daily to keep them coming until 1st frost, then pick the last flush, and chop n drop the plants in the same bed. This fills the freezer and creates 1 bed ready to go next Spring.

That's the way! All those 40-60 day crops that suffer in the summer...plant now for super fast germination and establishment, and then avoid all the pitfalls as the temps cool off heading to September! Its brilliant! 🙂

I'm in Maine and harvest my garlic around August 1. I have kind of a large garden so space is not a big issue, so I like to sow at that time daikon radishes both as an interesting crop for the fall but also as a cover crop and natural tillage. The daikons drill deep into the soil then completely die away leaving holes in the ground. Makes the soil real nice in the spring. The daikons are at least where I'm at, not readily available, so a nice culinary veggie to devote garden space to.
@TheRipeTomatoFarms2 ай бұрын
That sounds like a great idea. Daikon availability is definitely spotty here too. We use them in Kachumber salads and they are amazing!

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Hi Jeff, I decided on planting Early Wonder Beets. They are to mature in 50 days. I do have clear polycarbonate panels I can put over the beets like an arch, sealing off the ends, to keep them warm if it gets cold early.
