hello!! black person here and i just want to touch that i’m so grateful you included environmental racism in this. the sustainability movement is so white dominated when the ones facing the biggest impact are BIPOC. together we’ll overcome this 💞
@thatschicblog4 жыл бұрын
truly!!!!! hope we can start having deeper and more actionable conversations about this on youtube
@9melissal3 жыл бұрын
Genuine question, how are poc impacted more by sustainability issues? I'm trying to learn, not disagree.
@Lululover1223 жыл бұрын
@@9melissal hi! BIPOC because of systemic racism often tend to occupy and exist within the lower socioeconomic class and therefore live in areas which have food deserts or are near factories, and industrial areas and further away from any nature. This often is the reason that they’re health disparities between racial groups (obesity, diabetes, heart disease and asthma). It’s basically all these things accumulating to negatively impact BIPOC and remove us from sustainable living and environmentalism too. Hope this helps!!

I've been in bed since 6 pm. I've spent all day crying and this has been going on for weeks. Just by watching this video, I am reminded that I need to keep showing up for myself and for others. It is now 2 am and I'm finally getting out of bed to prepare for some actual rest. Thanks, Rachel.

yes yess YESSSS!!!! i love this phrase "get out of bed to prepare for actual rest" - sending you a virtual hug!!!!! don't beat yourself up over things you can't control or how you're processing your emotions. You're being human and it's beautiful! Hope you had a better start to this week 🐞 also @simplySK's comment is so so sweet and so true!!

@@FashAveGirl Thank you so much! This comment is so sweet of you... I've been trying! Definitely feeling different than I was when I wrote that comment. Sending you so much positive energy right back at you!

@@thatschicblog Their comment is very true! And I actually did have a less heavy week this time around! Thank you for reminding me to be more gentle with myself. I sometimes feel like I'm letting life pass me by and I blame myself a lot for not being able to keep up. But you're right, I need to take time to process my feelings. I tried my best to be more present this past week, and I felt it. Thank you for the virtual hug! I send one right back!

There’s always the other side to it, but for now, feel the pain run through you. Tight virtual hug because yes as SimplySK said as humans we have all been to that deep hole to dig ourselves up.

Wow after watching this video, I now realize how easily I can change many things in my life! You made them look rather seamless to integrate in our lives which is important since I feel like most people wont implement these changes bc they’ll be “inconvenient” and take too long. Did any of that make sense? Anyway 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

You're back!! 😁 This was a lovely video, as per usual. I hate to be that annoying person, but I'm a dentist so please don't use charcoal toothpaste, it's incredibly awful for your enamel (you will permanently wear it down, resulting in sensitivity). I also recommend continue using your electric toothbrush, because it is much more thorough than a manual brush. As much as I want to be zero waste in my daily life, I'm aware that my profession is incredibly wasteful, so the better you take care of your oral health, the less waste you will generate in the long run (in the form of less intensive dental care). Peace + love ✨

Trisha Vo This is such a helpful comment! Thank you so much!
@thatschicblog4 жыл бұрын
thank you for sharing trisha!!! i'll keep that in mind. I've used other charcoal toothpastes in the past and never liked the grittiness. This one doesn't seem to have it, does it still have the same negative effects? Also, true, LOVE my electric toothbrush and can't do without it. I just am mindful about how (un)often I switch out the head. We do what we can, and love your perspective that preemptive care is lower waste than going to the dentist to fix things x
@TVOtrisha4 жыл бұрын
@@thatschicblog I would still recommend against using any charcoal-based products, because it's still quite abrasive on a micro level. I actually really like fluoride gels (CariFree is what I recommend to my patients if they can afford it), because there are less abrasives + all the great benefits of regular toothpaste 😄
@user-mz4og9pr4d4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I always wondered about that. What about toothbrushes infused with charcoal?
@TVOtrisha4 жыл бұрын
@@user-mz4og9pr4d I've actually never heard of those before, but my line of thinking is that they'd still probably be abrasive and/or hard. Go for soft bristle toothbrushes 🙂 I know charcoal has detoxifying/exfoliating properties, so you see it often in skincare, but unlike skin, teeth cannot regenerate and therefore you don't want to exfoliate them. Hope this helps!
