8 Embossing Folder Techniques with Jennifer McGuire + Gina K.

Today, Jennifer and I shared eight fun techniques featuring embossing folders! Grab you favorites and try them all! We also introduced a new series called Tag Team Techniques! Last time we were together, we did a lot of techniques using foil and the tag team style just comes naturally to us, so we thought we would turn it into a series that we can share with you! Gina, it was probably about 2009 that I was watching you on your original channel (cards tv??) that I watched you do the waxed paper technique. A few weeks later I was in a thrift store and found a travel iron without steam and portable ironing board. I came home and tried the technique with all 4 of the folders I owned at the time and fell in love! I took it to my weekly card club and taught it to all of them. It is still one of my favorite techniques! And because of you I found Jennifer and because I found Jennifer I found Kristina! Thank you for those early videos!! And Jennifer, I recall watching you do iron off embossing and I still do that as well and it's awesome. Even seasoned card makers scratch their heads when they see it. All the solid images stark against ink blending. You should revisit that technique soon. I love these love collaborations. Hope to see more in the future!!

It would be great if you have your Logo on one side of the fold so you can signify which side to be on top. Have the bumpy side(emboss) on the bottom and the sunken side(deboss) on the top with the logo.

I always forget about my embossing folders, but now I will have to try these cool techniques! I was just wondering when you take your, coloured wet stamp pad and run it over another colour wouldn't that colour of stamp pad get on the other colour of stamp pad and ruin that colour??? I really love the both of you doing these embossing folders. I've just got started into making cards lasr February here at the campground. I got one of those hot irons as a wedding shower gift from? My mom! She always complained (I have a better word) about ironing my jeans. I use it mainly for halloween costumes. I want to try that wax paper, you can buy at any grocery store.😊

With the sanding technique I’m confused by how Jennifer got silver under the gold card stock she used when she first sanded. I understand if she kept sanding the white would show through instead since the back of the card stock is white.

Gina-I used 3D folders for the carved wood technique and they are gorgeous.

The wax paper technique would be really need with watercolor as the watercolor resists the wax as well .. could get almost a stain glasses effect

Suggestion for embossing folder manufacturers: STANDARDIZE! You all have such a hard time of explaining the two impressions sides and which is which....it would be great if all embossing folders had the impression sides the same. It can't be that difficult....right?

There are so many different manufacturers however the 2-D ones are all pretty standard. It’s the 3-D ones that can be different thicknesses. 🥰
