There are loads of people who have done it on every kind of boat you can imagine. Just get a sturdy boat and do your homework. AGLCA is a great place to start.

@@owasco7898 My youngest lost his DJI in a tree along the Stratford and Avon Canal two years ago. I then taped him climbing the tree to retrieve it for a vlog. For the Erie I bought an "el cheapo" drone for $50 but never flew it. I just had too much other gear I was trying to learn. I still haven't figured out my Osmo Pocket.

New subscriber here and enjoying your videos. Hope to see more! Do you need boat driving license there? Love your little Terrier. How do they cope on the boat? Are the canals areas all dog friendly? What about places to eat near the canals? Are they dog friendly, can you take your dog? We have a Westie who didn't mind being on the canal at all. We are thinking about moving to the States and the areas around the Erie Canal seems very nice. I'm American and my husband is British. So will be a big change for him. By the way, would you mind making a video about your dog?

Amazingly, you do not need a license to operate a 14 ton boat. Isn't that crazy!? Plenty of places to eat at most docks. Some of the rural towns may not have a large selection, but there is always a place to grab a bite. Our dog is a Cairn Terrier. Pickles. She loves the boat and all the places she gets to go. All the docks are dog friendly. Many boaters have dogs and it is never an issue. I may do video on Pickles next year if she is with us. We have talked about leaving her with my sister next season because she is getting a little older (the dog is getting older). We had a friend with an older dog that fell in the canal and drowned before anyone noticed she was missing. It was very sad. We will see how spry Pickles is and decide then.

@@owasco7898 You don't need 'driving' license here either. If I mentioned license earlier, it is more like a tax, like yearly tax on a car.

I researched the great loop and found some restrictions that anyone that’s going to do this must know. Width 45 feet, draft 6 feet and air draft 16 feet. The typical British Narrowboat easily work with these but the French or Dutch barges would too and be a lot more comfortable and could take a party of 6. The six foot draft is only in one place. Most areas are much deeper. Same with the air draft. Comments appreciated.

What was the actual date of this cruise? In Montazuma we saw an eagle. I bet my brother it was an osprey. I lost.

I believe this cruise was on Aug 18. We also thought we saw an eagle, but couldn't get a good shot of it with our camera. It would have been nice to include in the video, but it wasn't meant to be. Maybe next year.

@@owasco7898 Where I live here in Crystal Beach Florida, we used to have 2 or 3 nesting couples of Ospreys. Then an American Bald Eagle moved in about 4 miles way in a nature reserve. Eagles will NOT tolerate ospreys any where near their hunting territory. I witnessed the decimation of two nesting ospreys by a mated pair of eagles. It was not pleasant. They killed both ospreys, their young, and their nest. The birds near lock CS 1 (actually it was closer to the turnpike bridge) looked to me like ospreys. My brighter disagreed. He brought out the binoculars and they had a brown chest and not white; hence eagles. One was sitting high up on a dead tree right at the canals edge. On the other side of the tree was a car road for the Montazuma Reserve.
