Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. You have some great ideas to improve your firewood production, go with them and you won’t go far wrong.

Thank you very much, happy Thanksgiving to you as well. I’ve gotten lots of ideas from other videos on here but mostly I learn by doing. My mind is always going and trying to figure out ways to make processes better!

I like how you use the bottom of the IBC bladder to cover the tops of your totes while still letting air and sun get all around it. The IBC totes in my area, Central New York are outrageously priced so I do use them but they seem ideal for firewood.

They are pretty expensive here also, but maybe not as much as where you are. Buying one or two isn’t terrible but when you need 20 or 30, that’s when it becomes an issue. My last load was 11 of them delivered for $300. So not terrible since I didn’t have to go get them and waste fuel running back-and-forth. This has really streamlined my splitting and drying process but I also have to make some old fashion stacks since I don’t have enough of these for everything. Thanks for watching!

$125-$150 each here. I’ve seen some KZbin videos where the guys are getting them for $10. For the time being I’ll stick with the old fashioned stacks. Great video.

Wow that is absolutely robbery. I’d stick to the old fashioned way as well. Just found a website here in Michigan for 60 totes at $18 each. That’s definitely doable

Hi John, I have enjoyed some of your videos. But I’ll take a look again and watch some more. I’ve learned a lot from watching how others do theirs. Thanks !

Nice video. Thanks! When you have the single blade on the splitter, you might try rotating both pieces together 90 degrees after the first split. You can then split both of them with one more spitting stroke instead of 2 more strokes.
@BlueyesBelow2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great suggestion, thanks! I did that with a couple pieces today, but just need to make a habit and muscle memory out of it. I do have a brand new splitter on the way though. I will pick it up in the next few days 😎👍🏼

Have you ever considered making a log bucning table for the small stuff? Wolfe Ridge used to make one. The channel Knott Wood Working has a decent home built bucking table.

I have an idea in mind for one and have seen some photos of a few pretty nice setups. Thankfully I have a bunch of 8’ cross arms that were taken down from the power poles at work when we change them out, so I think I will use those. I could load a bunch of logs on it with the tractor and work at a comfortable height and keep the saw out of the dirt 👍🏼 great suggestion!

Have you ever tried out all wood log splitter. They make them in Michigan
@BlueyesBelow2 жыл бұрын
I have never actually heard of them until your comment. I checked them out this morning at their website and wow they make some very impressive stuff! Looks like they are having issues getting parts and have an unspecified leadtime like other places

Maybe I’ll see if I can visit them someday. Would be cool to see them in person! Hope you get your order soon

Nice bud! Looks like you could still use a bit more weight on the back of the tractor. If you were to lay a 15 gal drum on top of your box scraper and fill it 3/4 with water it would be cheap and heavy!

Good thinking! Getting things sorted one piece at a time 😊
Nice video. Unfortunately there’s not one single best way because everyone has a different setup and machinery available. It’s good to take ideas from different ways and then create your own flow.
@BlueyesBelow2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! This is the best way I’ve found for me and my equipment though as I said in the video. I’ve got a new ruggedmade splitter being delivered, and a few other toys, so that will up production greatly. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
