It's awesome that you mentioned "Magic Town." An underrated Stewart film that rarely gets mentioned.

Love your list. Haven’t seen them all but you did list some of my favorites like Casablanca, Brief Encounter, and Roman Holiday. You’re correct. The main characters in Brief Encounter did meet at a train station. Celia Johnson’s Laura got some soot into her eye and Trevor Howard’s Alec is a doctor so he offered to help her out.

THANK YOU! I really should just rewatch it after struggling so hard in this 😂 appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts.

Im so glad that you brought up Brief Encounter. I watched it a while ago not knowing a thing going into the movie (mostly how i prefer to watch new movies) and it was one of the most pleasant surprises. Even the little plot twist at the end had me shook and was perfectly executed. An absolute masterpiece

1942 saw the release of the best black-and-white romantic dramas ever made: Casablanca, Now, Voyager, and Random Harvest. I think you'd also like 1938's Three Comrades. Too many stories place bromance and romance in opposition to each other; here, they work together beautifully.

Great list I've seen Casablanca, Roman Holiday and the artist So now I start watching the rest Thanks for the suggestions🖐

Fredric March might be one of my top five favorite actors of all time. I'm glad that you talked about one of his movies.

Good list though I'd have definitely included The Clock here. Such a sweet romantic classic.

Funny enough I started it the other day and didn’t finish it in time for this video. Maybe it’ll make my 2025 list 🤣
@NoirFan849 ай бұрын
@maplestreetmovies Haha. That's a shame, I think you might have included it had you finished it. 1945 had some truly great feel-good movies of the Golden-age era, Our Vines Have Tender Grapes is another that stands out.

A Foreign Affair (1948) directed by Billy Wilder and stars Marlene Dietrich, Jean Arthur and John Lund, it's mainly a comedy with a love triangle at the centre of it. It has some extremely witty dialogue. It's one of his least known. Another one by him is The Major And The Minor (1942), starring Ginger Rogers and Ray Milland.

Great picks! I’ve seen both and especially loved The Major and the Minor. That’s the movie that sold me on Ginger Rogers.

I'm not sure what any top list would be but some other b&w romantic films I can think of are: Hiroshima Mon Amour, The Lovers, Lola (the Jacques Demy film), Le Notti Bianche, Sabrina- though I actually watched the remake last year and ... preferred it to the og *gasp* , Come Live With Me (I know you've seen this), Camille (1936), Waterloo Bridge (1940), and I'm just gonna stop there. (sorry not all have years, I'm being lazy and not looking them up)

Ahhh Magic Town!!! One of my favourite Jane Wyman films. I'm in my Jane Wyman phase and currently watching all her films! What other ones have you seen of Janie's?
@maplestreetmovies9 ай бұрын
So glad you’ve seen Magic Town! I’ve seen Pollyanna, Magnificent Obsession, All That Heaven Allows, The Lost Weekend, and Stage Fright! Any recommendations?
@mariasmith94609 ай бұрын
@@maplestreetmoviesThose are all wonderful films of Janie's. Those first 3 are my favourite, but I love them all. Some more I highly recommend are Lucy Gallant, Johnny Belinda (she won best actress for it) and it was a wonderful performance. Some other ones I like are A Kiss in the Dark, Miracle in the Rain, Just For You, Three Guys named Mike, Cheyenne, So Big and The Lady takes a Sailor. All really good films but I'm really into Janie and my Insta is full of her and my Film reviews 😂 but all of those are good movies that I absolutely loved. I hope you enjoy them if you end up watching them and I'd love to see a review on her films one day.
