Although not good to get major issues with the van, at least your trip was nearly over rather than just beginning. I recommend that you get a couple of dehumidifiers plugged in and running for a day or so with all doors and windows shut. You'll be amazed how much water and damp is removed.

You should have bought Pampers Nappies - Tools to remove as much of the fitted stuff. Then put the nappies in all the low areas to soak up as much water as possible. Also get a decent tap, AND put a switch on the electric pump. The quicker you get it dried the less work you will have replacing stuff.

A lovely video guys, you are doing the right thing with ripping the lower inside of the van out, I would do the same. St Malo is amazing, if you live here it's pronounced "San Maalo" Annalise, until I lived in France I always did the same with my ferry tickets but my wallet got so full that I couldn't close it ! Step 1 park van on a steep hill so that as much water can find a way out as pos. Step 2 drive it and listen for sloshing if this is not too then last step is a dehumidifier running 24/7. Then only as last resort strip it.

Put the chocks under one side to tip the water out one way then do it again on the other side get it as high as you can

Oh my, what bad luck with the water. Sods Law that the tank was full. French are lovely, we lived in the centre of France for 9 years and go back to see our French friends as often as we can. We love St Malo too and also Dinan. We love Brittany as we love going to Fest Noz (dancing to Bretonne groups 😀). Hope van isn’t too much hard work.

Love your content guys but sorry to hear you flooded out but on your refit perhaps wire the rear equipment not to power up when the engine is running like manufactured camper/ motorhomes, it would be safer and less costly, keep up the good travels. Happy new year👍🎉

Sorry you had snooty comments from know alls. We all make mistakes and yours wasn’t even a mistake. It’s a freak accident. I’m so sorry about the van. I know you post your vlogs in retrospect so hopefully you are well on your way now to fixing it up

You only learn from serious mishaps. Going forward after the refit. Make sure you have a switch for the water pump. Although I never had flood damage i had a water dump as a result of the frost protection valve opening when the temperature went to 4*. The pump was on at the time and pumped out about 100 ltr of water, then carried on running throughout the day dry. In my case a new pump and no water damage but since then I never leave the van unattended with the pump switch on.

Exactly! We do have a switch but we just didn’t turn it off on this occasion 🫣 I think when nothing has gone wrong before you become a little too relaxed and forget things😂

@@Steps2adventure Indeed you do. We do not find the switch in the off position impacts in the smooth operation of the MH. The tap is used to wash up and morning bathroom, so being premaritally 'Off' has not been a game changer. Enjoy Scotland in the forthcoming storms.
