8 ISLANDS CYCLING CHALLENGE

Lina and Pol, two passionate cyclists, were at a training camp in Gran Canaria when, amidst the imposing landscapes where cliffs plunge into the sea and majestic volcanoes rise, the idea of a challenge emerged: to cross all the Canary Islands on road bikes, covering a different island each day and cycling a total of 900 kilometers. The challenge was ambitious in every sense, not only because of the distance but also due to the geographical diversity and rugged terrain of the Canary Islands. They would have to overcome an astonishing 21,600 meters of accumulated elevation gain.
The itinerary of the challenge followed a meticulously planned order: La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and finally, La Graciosa.
Despite the toughness of the challenge, the Canary archipelago is famous for its mild climate and blue skies even in the winter months, providing an ideal environment for cycling. The roads of the Canary Islands, winding and in excellent condition, led Lina and Pol through stunning landscapes full of contrasts: golden sandy beaches, volcanoes, lava valleys, and dense forests.
This cycling challenge across the Canary Islands is a testimony to the natural beauty of these islands, offering a variety of landscapes ranging from dense laurel forests to desert-like areas and volcanic regions. As they progressed and crossed each island, they immersed themselves in a unique adventure, exploring the diversity of the geography and flora of the Canary archipelago. Lina and Pol note that with determination and passion, this challenge can be conquered by well-prepared cyclists while enjoying the heights and exploring the most impressive corners of each island
