There is a story circulating/ trending on Whatsapp and Twitter/ X platforms. This story is related to a deemed university on Karnataka. The story explains how this particular deemed university uses agents to manipulate the counseling and blocks seats. This story concludes saying that the colleges make 50-70 lacs per candidate by spending about 8 lacs to block a seat. Is there any truth in this allegation? Can colleges use this shortcut to block seats? We discuss about this.

Open counselling is the best one. Old system is best. No need choice filling, mopup , stray....etc.. Seat may given according to the merit list by displaying on the display board..

I am a big fan of the old system. But, unfortunately, TN is not going back. I had never seen any indecision and seat blocking those days. There will be very few seats vacant for R2.

The information is incorrect even in 2022, because many deemed universities don't fill the seats at this rate in round 1 and round 2 ,except for manipal KMC.

This alleged scam was reported in 2019: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bengaluru/four-karnataka-colleges-sold-most-seats-in-medical-admission-scam/articleshow/72031417.cms. There was a possibility for this scam until 2022. I am not saying it would have happened in 2022.

Few seats are given according to the rank list .. But remaining seats were sold for low marks named by management .. In one class there will be 550 to 700 And 250 t0 450 .. So sad.. ..

@@breeze52 the seats cannot be SOLD as such any more. But, now also you could see candidates with different mark ranges as not everyone can afford the high fee structure of private colleges or deemed universities.
