hello everybody - thank you for the video - it is actually an excerpt from the famouis Jim Chapin book called Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer by Jim Chapin - do to yourself a big favor- get to yourself that book - all examples from that video is the small subset of that book. btw - for some reason in that video stratight eights notes are completelly ommited - and that is very unfortunate . they are very useful in fast tempos and bibop.Jim Chapin's book has got a whole chaper dedicated to it . thank you again and G-d bless

Just in case anyone is a little confused, at 6:13 the notation and audio example don't match. The audio example has the written rhythm shifted back on to beat 1 and the rest is on beat 4. So instead of the triplets starting on beat 2 in the audio example, they start on beat 1. Hope that makes sense!

Do I need to follow the swing when I hit the snare drum time?

Yes! The idea is to maintain the swing pattern (right hand on the ride + left foot on 2 and 4), whilst playing the written snare rhythms with your left hand
