8-month Ownership update on my 2008 Lexus IS250

Back with another video! Giving you my thoughts, advice, and a small update ony my beautiful 2008 Lexus IS 250!

I’ve owned my 2008 Lexus IS250 since I bought it from my cousin back in 2018. In the last 5 years I had her, she’s been a rock solid and superb car. I have a 2015 Corolla I use as my daily driver but the Lexus is fun to drive. It has become my weekend car.

Have you had to change anything? Any major repairs?

@@TASwims well I had to do basic maintenance like new spark plugs, drain and fill transmission fluid, and do a carbon buildup cleanup. The last major thing I did was a brand new water pump, but all cars will need to replace that component and some time in their high mileage future. So I’m glad I did it. So far it’s been a rock solid car but yeah you just need to maintain it. Do that and you won’t need an entirely new engine in the car. If it gets to that point then it’s not even worth giving the car anymore possibly.

@@KingDrewPhilip Dude thanks for the quick reply, you rock! Those things are normal for such an old car I guess. The carbon build up worries me a bit. I am hoping to buy my cousin's one for a cheap price with 140,000 miles on the clock but worried if it fails on me. I've read good things about these going on for miles and miles though.

Those rear light modernize the car so much … & it helped tremendously with the almost timeless design the car had too begin with .. very nice ❤

I’ve own mine since 2014 got it with 80k and it now have over 250k. Only major thing that I needed to do to the car was the water pump. She’s aging, but she’s still reliable. I’m actually about to drive back to Atlanta from New Orleans as I type this up.

Yes, I love the reliability👌🏾. Yours definitely lasted and still going strong. These cars are tanks. I will be going on my first, but small road trip to Atlanta with my IS later on this month and I’m excited. It’s about two hours from where I reside!

I love my Lexus! I drove my 2008 IS250 for Uber and Lyft for one month. I felt like it was blasphemy to drive such a nice car for rideshare. So...I bought a slow 2018 Toyota Yaris for my rideshare gig. I kept my IS250 and I think it's pretty luxurious. Faster and far far more luxurious than the small Yaris that's for sure! I love the wooden grain touches that scream luxury! Meanwhile, my Uber Yaris is all plastic and cheap inside.

Does yours have sticky dash melting issue?

It does not. The previous owner took care of the sticky dashboard and door panel recall thankfully. I will be getting a dashboard cover for it to keep it protected though.

No, it isn’t. The IS220D is and that’s not in the US market.

That’s fair tbh. Less that what I paid for mine with 5k more miles. I paid a little too much for mine at the time but the car market was high then.

The Vlands are actually 10X brighter than the OEM I have a 350 Vland is 6000K vs 4300K (OEM xenon)

I guess it just varies lol. I got aftermarket headlights now(not Vlands) and they’re pretty good aside from condensation on the first pair I’ve received.

I have a ‘08 250, had it for 7 mos. No mods on it so far but I’m planning to upgrade/replace my old oem struts to coil overs, replace my LCA Bushing to figs, and maybe upgrade my sway bars to the f sport one. Just handling mods because my car handles like a wet noodle and it scares me. xD

@@skree_fpv436 not really, I have a bad almost blown struts(to be replaced soon). So it is kinda scary. The oem struts is just too comfy when you go fast on corners, with a little bit of practice like when step your break, let go, let the car cruise and then step on the gas kinda helps fixing the skill issue(for me). Just the body roll on cornering is too soft for my taste, I am just used to my stiff Honda Civic coupe struts. Minor nitpicking. Overall car is nice, very comfy, just don’t go fast on corners. :)

They’re the factory HID headlights with active steering.

I'm looking at one of these with 50k miles (87k km) at an official dealer, but the prices here in Spain are crazy right now, that one is 12k euro. It comes with a 12month warranty though and it looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. Prices go down to 6-7K € for very high mileage ones, but I don't want to buy it with more than 60K miles.... Decisions... The car is red which is cool, but the only thing I don't like on it is the beige leather inside.

Yeah, it’s due to it being direct injection only. It is a little louder for sure but I don’t think it’s overly loud lol. Glad you’re enjoying the car!

my 2009 IS250 (SE-I) with full options, doesn't have that mirror, it's a simple no buttons at-all mirror. Dunno why. Bought the car recently..

Maybe it was optional? We in the US do not have that trim. The auto dimming mirror is standard equipment here stateside.

You might’ve gotten one that was not taken care of..These cars like any car have their problems, but still can last a long time with minimal repairs. That is if it isn’t a lemon or wasn’t taken care of.

Your mileage is pretty solid, TPMS sensors can be annoying lol. I’ve always be fascinated with these Lexus. How would it compare to my 2008 Toyota Camry do you think? Would it be much smaller inside?

Everything except the space will be better than the Camry to be honest(and not trying to knock the Camry bc it is a wonderful car but the IS more refined!). IS is smaller on the inside for sure
