My dog was attacked by a gang of near ferral dogs, she died of blood loss. When she was still conscious, she slowly wagged her tail when she saw me. I never been an emotional guy, but this almost brought me to tears. Even near her death, she was happy to see me...

I’m sorry to hear about your dog, she must’ve been a good girl. I lost my two cats in an apartment fire. It was painful see their bodies when we had to go to the crematorium. They weren’t burnt but instead died of smoke inhalation they were at least unconscious when it happened but I breathed in that smoke and it hurt like hell so I can only imagine what my cats were feeling before they passed out from the smoke. I could see them under the bed, I wish I saved them but you never know how you react to something until it happens to you. I hope your dog is having a good afterlife with all the love she could get.

@@yodacat9589 I recall at the time, someone pointing out that as long as she was in the vet care, there was help with the kittens. Once she was in a home, 4 kittens would have probably overwhelmed her while still needing so much care. They'd have been weaned and ready for the world. Getting them, their own homes is the same thought I'd have had and I like to think of it as another gift she gave the world, by the impact those kittens would have had on their new families.

I lost my dog to kidney failure earlier this week. She had been my best friend for the past 16 years, and helped emotionally support my brother and I through some really tough times in our lives. This video made me feel a bit better, reminding me that animals and pets can be heroes to us, whether on a large scale or a smaller scale. Thanks for the great content; keep up the good work. As a 9/11 survivor and first responder I want to give an honorary mention to all the search and rescue dogs that were there. We all had on special gear yet still found it hard to breathe and extremely hot. Poor dogs had fire resistant boots on their lil paws bcuz fire would shoot up ertime a large barrier was lifted/removed. I know they suffered cuz the bottom of my own boots felt like they were melting. I think they worked longer hours than we did. First rescue dogs to find survivors then cadaver dogs to assist in victim recovery. Just a shout out to all of them! 🐕 🗽

I salute Balto and all the dogs of war . My hero is my dog Kayla. She was a collie cross. My health was very poor as I have multiple sclerosis. My daughter bought her for me as a surprise. My husband told me that in order to make her mine I had to walk her every day. I took that advice to heart, I pushed myself to tears every day, just to walk her a mere half a block. Eventually as I got stronger our distance was longer until we were walking 4 miles a day. We went into longer walks/races and we won prizes too. I owe my health to my dog Kayla and she lived for 16 years plus 4 months old. She was my first and only dog and I still grieve her loss. She was my best friend and I loved her dearly ❤ 💛

Well.... Balto is no hero and merely takes credit for what the other sled dogs did. The real hero was Togo who did way way more than balto. I heard about Scarlet's story in first grade and I've been obsessed with her ever since. I'm glad to hear she lived to the ripe age of 13! That's pretty old for a cat! (The average life expectancy for a housecat is ~15!) She was clearly very well loved too, bless the lady that adopted her. I know her story gets told often, but I appreciate you telling it again regardless. Something that really gets me emotional is how badly burned she was, her kittens were relatively unscathed in comparison. They're definitely singed, but she got them all out before any major injuries could happen.

13 isnt old for a cat at all. Ive never lost a cat under the age of 18, and the last 3 ive lost were all aged of 20, with the oldest being 23. All house cats. Scarlet was obese, which is one of the main reasons her life was cut short. Dry food is the leading cause of obesity and kidney disease.

37:29. dogs receiving military rank in U.S. military. When I was in the U.S. Army back in the 90's I remember the Military Police giving a demonstration. In one of the presentations I learned the dogs were given the rank of Sergeant so if they were ever aggressed, a soldier could be charged with assaulting a Non-commissioned Officer, which holds some stiff punishments. I read on this just now in Army Regs I looked up and actually the rank of the dog is given as Sergeant after completing its training and is one higher than their handler to ensure the dog is treated properly. So, yes military dogs (at least speaking for the U.S. Army) are actually given rank. Great video.

The story about the little girl makes me happy. One of the little known facts about lions is that even wild ones can sense when any animal including humans is in distress. The reason I am alive to type this comment is because my aunt insisted we get breakfast before our meeting with some person talking about my grandfather's will. Because we stopped for breakfast I survived. My father lost some family members during the events which is why I dedicated all 3 deployments I went on.

While your videos are usually about death and tragedy, this is certainly a welcome change of pace. It was wonderful to hear about all these heroic animals, and that I actually knew about one beforehand! Cher Ami was responsible for aiding 'The Lost Battalion', which is what the 77th was referred to when they were surrounded by enemy forces after advancing too far forward in the Argonne forest and were cut off by a counter-offensive. I don't know how he did it, but that bird was one hell of an animal. Hearing you bring up how many families owe their existence to his bravery, just makes me appreciate him all the more. It's nice to hear you've got an editor now and I hope that can help take some of the load off your shoulders. Til the next video, I hope you have plenty of good days, Savox!

I hope someday people find pigeons lovable again, because they really are so smart and loyal. They’re just like any other bird and we’ve done a huge disservice to them by giving up on them (and interrupting their natural lives by training them and then building hostile architecture for them) just cause they’re technologically useless. All animals are important.

I think another good example is Wojtek, a Syrian brown bear who helped the Polish Army in WW2 by carrying artillery shells to the battlefield. He even became a Corporal.

I wish you gave Togo more of a part in this video since he was looked over for Balto since Balto was the one that arrived at the town. Togo ran the most treacherous part of the run. He ran 261 miles during the serum run and he also ran around 71 miles during the first day. Balto was a good boy too but he only ran 55 miles. Seppala was a flawed man and I could see his frustration on the fame and credit but I wouldn’t overlook Togo’s feat just because Seppala sold Balto out of spite.

It was actually “Togo”who did the longest and most dangerous leg of the serum run… nice video 👍

I've always been mind blown that pigeons have been able to be trained and conduct complex message delivery, even under duress situations. Like HOW!? How do they do what they do?

@@ChanaElisheva They're actually intelligent and capable of forming a bond with humans. That applies to more animals than most think, but because people (especially the western world) are busy with that weird dog fetish, it's not common knowledge and people stay ignorant, or worse, treat the less "popular" animals like garbage.

I never thought I’d get emotional from this - I guess I better explain what exactly happened. I used to live in Houston, Texas with my mom and sister - we used to have two cats named sock and Nugget. They were wonderful cats even if they were trouble makers. They both helped me and my sister with our mental health issues and honestly, they were the ones who gave me a purpose, a reason to continue existing. But since we’re in a capitalist world that values money over safety, something would happen, something terrible. At around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning I woke up to the smell of smoke and the sound of crackling fire and it was chaotic. I’m not gonna describe the detail but it’s not like I could. The thing about smoke, it doesn’t just affect the lungs it can also irritate your eyes and that’s exactly what it did. I could barely see anything because my eyes were crying involuntarily. I was the last person to get out but my cats weren’t able and they unfortunately passed away from smoke inhalation. Scarlett’s story reminded me of my former cats.

When my son was very young we had a young dog. That dog fought a rattle snake for him. My boy would have been bitten if not for him. Sadly my son saw what sacrifice is that day. His dog died that day. The vet said that snake may have killed our son. The snake was over 5 feet long. Treat your animals good. They may save something precious to you. I owe that dog so much. I will never forget him.
