I'm glad you balanced out with the good points of this car. Mine is a 2015. A lot of people who complain about the Outback must realize one thing. It is NOT a heavy duty off-road truck like vehicle. Its really a mediocre family wagon with excellent build quality, gas mileage and all wheel drive system. It's not a luxury car either. Its a versatile, solid, practical, functional and reliable wagon. Buy it with that in mind and you'll never be disappointed with it.

I have the 2022 outback sport ( Australian spec ) and just love it . After a long and expensive search for the right vehicle. Including buying a ute / truck and very quickly understanding it was a mistake for me . The outback feels like the perfect fit . It does everything i want to off road . it can tow my boat and i can do long distance trips in comfort. Im 6ft5 and Its soo nice to be able to find a comfortable vehicle , The seats are soo nice . Gas mileage is getting better and better as the engins runs in . At 30,000km now Thanks for sharing your videos .

I drive Outback 2018 European version. No integrated roof rails and fewer color options compared to the US, but I love it anyway. The best feature is the ability to onboard your friends and do a nice roadtrip no matter what road you ride, no matter what weather is.

I bought a 2017 base model and had buyers remorse due to how expensive the used car market was and just how my 20 year old Volvo had more options (didnt even come with fog lights!) up till the minute i drove it in the snow. Now I just feel bad how badly beat up the car's been but ive taken it off roading a lot and it does great. Cant wait till it's paid off so i have more money to mod it out.

I previously had a 2018 Canadian base model. it came with steelies, fog lights, and heated seats. No electronic nannies (Eyesight, blindspot detection, electric hatch etc). Was perfect for my needs. Eventually changed it to a 201 3.6r Limited for the smoother power (not it doesn't feel powerful. how easy it is to get used to something).

@@ChaseChristopher1 yeah a bit older, but you can’t really tell. Those vehicles age well. One thing I hate about my 24 Outback IS Starlink- keeps disconnecting phone calls, auto start stop has to be turned off each start, and the face scanning safety feature beeps anytime you take your eyes of the road for more than 3 seconds. You can turn it off, but it is super buggy and glitches back on, so it’s always a battle. Hate it.

Wow I’m amazed with the comments. My son was a tech at a Subaru dealer and he saw so many issues with cvt trans failures and head gaskets and blown engines. They can’t keep up with how many major repairs come in. I like the cars I just am worried about hitting that 100k mile point. I know the newer ones have a better chance of going further in the engine department since Toyota is now the parent company but the cvt failure rate is off putting to me. No thanks.
@thomasb.1124

Definitely do better research. Your comments do not reflect actual facts. Head gaskets haven't been an issue for more than 10 years and CVT failure is not a major issue with Subaru.

I have this car and there are many reasons I do not love it: lots of road noise, uncomfortable leather seats, cheap interior, factory roof rails are terrible and can't hold anything heavy, lift gate kills the battery, small cargo space, can't sit up when sleeping in the back, not enough headroom for tall driver, etc. Also, pretty unreliable and expensive repairs. Thankfully I bought the gold warranty which has paid for itself. It is good on gas, also great in the snow with A/T tires and snow socks.

We Love my wife’s 19 Outback. It has only 38K miles. Yeah the 175 horsepower is a bit GUTLESS, but it gets her through the 5-7 feet of snow we get every winter. It LOVES to run between 80 and 90mph on the freeway. It’s extremely comfortable and hugs the corners in the “S” curves coming up our mountain to get home. When it wears out, we’ll replace it with another Outback.

Great video. I have put a ton of hard miles on my 2015 Limited 2.5. Never once an issue. Even off-road and loaded with 4 mountain bikes, 2 sea kayaks, and camping gear. And the worst mileage I ever got was 22mpg and that was off-road and heavily laden. Only downside is the standard roof rack, but I replaced it with a Yakima setup and that works great.

I have a 21 Forester and it has been good overall. I’m eyeing an upgrade though - it’s very spartan so it’s uncomfortable on long drives, and the towing capacity is very limited. I like the idea of a Tacoma but an Outback would be more practical.

I own a 2015 Outback Limited 2.5. It replaced a VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI diesel 6-speed MT w/ 100K and a service for blown hoses over $2K. That was it. I wanted a non-drama car. The Subaru oil changes are under $40 at my dealer. It's the best car to have in weather. We get a ton of rain in Florida summers. I love it. Bought a lockable Thule Frontier cargo box 7.5 ft. x 2 ft. on FB Marketplace for $75 this week. Don't have anything to put in it right now. We're 2200 miles from CO/UT ski resorts. But, good to have! Also, the MPG you mentioned and a pretty large gas tank, my Outback has a range of over 420 miles on a full tank.(My Jetta TDI had close to 500 miles.) I like that you're not stopping every 200 miles on a road trip like i have to do on my 1999 4Runner.

I have the wilderness and they are truly amazing. I have had mine down some pretty rough terrain and not had any issues. I did learn that if you are going to be out on forestry roads and you have the eyesight options in the car, turn off the impact warning. I thought I hit a tree at 20 mph backing down a dirt road, but it turned out it was a soft willow branch at 2 mph. The car stopped me so hard it hurt. Did you ever learn how to shut the lights off on the mirrors? I thought they would be a good idea at first but not so much anymore.

My 2019 Forester Touring was a LEMON and was in the shop more often than in my garage. That being said, Spokane (WA) Subaru has loaner vehicles. I’ve driven the Outback Wilderness and the Outback XT for LOOOOONG periods of time. The Outback Wilderness was horrible on fuel economy but the Outback XT wasn’t as bad. But avoid the Turbo as it simply doesn’t last as long, historically speaking. The Naturally Aspirated Outback is best, though the CVT transmission robs the engine of horsepower and torque. The AWD system is the BEST and the Outback has one of the best in safety. I recommend the Outback, wholeheartedly.
