This is just absolutely mad, I fucking love it! Not just an 8-rotor, but in a Tesla of all cars. As though the marvel of engineering that is the 8-rotor isn't awesome enough, putting it in an EV would be the icing on the cake. It might be petty of me to really enjoy that, but sticking it to the EV crowd like that wouldn't just make my day or week, it would make my year. Please keep us updated!

Would love to see this, imagine the sound with an equel length 8-1 header or two 4-1 headers. Flex seems to be a big issue for the shaft on rotary engines especially beyond 4 rotors but I think you would still be able to make quite a bit of power. Enough to do sick burnouts at least. We got 1 rotor engines, 2 rotor engine, 3 rotor engine, 4 rotor engine and 6 rotor engines already out there, and at least two people (Mad Mike and David Mazzei) are building 5 rotor engines. It would be so so cool to see an 8 rotor next.

You should make it have two different exhaust routes. One with a full exhaust and near silent muffler and another one with hood dump for party mode. Pull up to the burnout box like a stock tesla then right before your burnout blow peoples minds with the push of a button and that glorious rotary sound.

I took a welding and CNC class after high school. It was certainly interesting. I made my own CNC G-Code on my own. You have to remember the codes and put the correct ones on the right line or you will have a CNC crash aka VERY bad. But TAKE IT SLOW and you will be fine. Takes a lot of practice and memorising

For cooling and oiling I’d probably look at running it as if it were 2 individual 4 rotors. ie oil and water pumps + radiators for the front 4 rotors and seperate oil and water pumps + radiators for back 4 rotors… running water or oil through the entire length of that thing will get it all pretty hot by the end even with methanol…

I have seen a 6 rotor run at 7s day Japan, it was apparently quite a feat to achieve, very complex, it will be something else again to get an inline 8 rotor to run. I wish you all the best if you head down this track. I keep looking at this and all I see is 2 20b rotors and a 13b which would be perfect for me. You were really fortunate to get the chance to show a lot of what billet boss does. The work in the plates looks great, are you able to get footage of their motor assembly or are they just a parts supplier?

Pretty sure this would fit nicely in my 1972 Monte Carlo (longest hood Chevy put on a car) I'd even keep it NA for simplicity and it would probably make 800whp since 100hp per NA rotor is docile.

For as small as the package why not put 2 side by side and use helical cut gears to get the timing between the 2 cases and use plates to attach them together like the tractor pulling rigs use. 2 4 rotors with huge turbo like dahm but set the timing so the engines are 45 degrees out would have 4 power pulses every revolution and would be 4k power in space of a v8.
